Tommy Thomson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 27, 2024.
Tommy Evans Thomson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, in Stockton, Utah, at the age of 61. Born on October 18, 1963, in Yuma, Arizona, Tommy was the cherished surprise baby of his parents, Silas and Juanita Thomson. He spent his childhood enjoying sports, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

In 1983, Tommy married the love of his life, Kim, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Their marriage is a beautiful example of an eternal companionship, so inseparable that they are more commonly known to friends and family as "Kim and Tommy." It is impossible to think of one without the other.

Together, they raised four children-Billy, Kali, Walker, and Ty-whom they considered their greatest accomplishment. Their home was one of love, joy, and togetherness, first on a ranch in Cave Creek and later in Desert Hills. Tommy's family remains his pride and joy, and he poured his heart into supporting and loving them.

Later in life, Tommy became the proud and loving grandparent of eight grandchildren. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he never missed a chance to create memories with them, whether watching movies, attending their sporting events, fishing, riding in the "Ranger," swimming in the pool, shooting, or countless other activities. To them, he is the "world's best grandpa."

A hardworking and dedicated electrician, Tommy took pride in his craft and was known for his strong work ethic. While he enjoyed his profession, his greatest fulfillment came from serving his family and others. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tommy served in various callings, including on the high council, in bishoprics, as a ward mission leader, and as Young Men's president. He quietly performed countless acts of service, never seeking recognition.

Generosity was at the core of who Tommy is. He freely gave his time and resources to those around him, always ready to help. His final day was a reflection of who he is: he spent it helping his daughter Kali and her family build their home in Stockton, Utah, playing with his grandchildren, and ended the evening talking with Kim on the phone, who was in Arizona, telling her he loved her before going to bed.

Though Tommy's spirit has temporarily left us, his legacy of love, laughter, and service lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His joyful spirit continues to touch the lives of his family and friends, and we take comfort in knowing that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we will be reunited with him again.

Tommy was preceded in death by his son Billy, his parents, one sister, and two brothers, with whom he has joyfully reunited.

Tommy is survived by his devoted wife, Kim; their children: Kali Wagner (Ryan), Walker (Billye), and Ty (Sydney); and eight adoring grandchildren: Enoch, Emmitt, Eli, Kenyon, Jace, Rhett, Faith, and Will.

Until we meet again, we love you, Tommy.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 12:00pm, with a viewing held beforehand at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 44611 N New River Road, New River, Arizona 85087.

Tommy will forever be known for his laughter and willingness to go above and beyond for anything. He was part of the Lumen family also and will be deeply missed. My heart goes out to his family, co-workers, friends, and everyone he touched we lost a truly special man.

I work for Lumen and Tommy did a lot of our electrical work. I remember him as always smiling, always laughing. He would take the time to explain things to me, I know nothing about electrical. He also helped answer questions about electrical that were not work related. Never the one to say no to anything you asked him. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and work family.
