Tracey House Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 17, 2017.
Tracey Lynn House passed peacefully into the comforting arms of her savior Jesus on October 15, 2017 surrounded with the love of immediate family and friends at her side. Tracey was born on November 5, 1959 to Roger and Fay Matson in Sioux City Iowa. The family had many moves during her childhood, but spent most of her younger years in Minnesota; eventually moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1972. Tracey's love of dance began at an early age which set the stage for cheer where she was selected as a cheerleader at J.E.B. Stuart Junior High. She continued cheering at Nathan Bedford Forest High, where she graduated in 1977. Tracey’s ambitions revolved around dance, acrobatics and cheer-leading. She pursued this passion with love and was eager to share her experiences with teaching dance at a studio well before her own graduation. Tracey was an integral part of establishing competitive cheer-leading in southern Nevada by opening the first cheer gym in the state. This is where Tracey's innate nature for instruction, mentoring and establishing life long bonds with her students truly defined her inner being; holding her in the hearts of all who came in contact with her. Her unrelenting connection with her students to help them achieve their goals and accomplishments with the sport would only be overshadowed by her mothering nature with all her students, a characteristic Tracey crafted through her God given qualities and fortunately, her purpose for life during her time with us. This would continue until her illness sidelined her from the rigors of the physical tasks, but Tracey's heart never wavered and she continued to stay connected through the strength of her soul until she eventually succumbed to her illness. Anyone who ever had the privilege of having Tracey as a coach and teacher has reaped the benefits of her passion for those arts and through her memory will always have Tracey watching over them, guiding them through life. Tracey's entire world revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, family and countless friends. Her beloved children, Jason and Allison, were born in 1979 and 1982 respectively. They were a source of incredible strength for her and the pride she held for them was immeasurable. She raised them in Jacksonville until their move to Las Vegas in 1990 where she began a career as a Cocktail Waitress. In addition to the challenges of being a single mother, she would be resolute in her passion with dance and acro. In 1996 she met and married Mike House, who brought a daughter Lindsey with him into the family and was immediately welcomed with open arms. Mike has always considered Tracey a true blessing in his life and she will continue to be a source of strength for him. Tracey's care and passion for family, people and life had always been immediately evident to all who met her. Tracey never had acquaintances because she held all in heart as family. Her students considered her more than just a teacher. She mentored, befriended, served as a role model, counselor, family member and her motherly tendencies were shared with a selfless purpose. The list of people she touched in her life is endless and she left this world as we all should, satisfied and content in following her purpose, establishing her legacy and longevity. Tracey's family, friends and especially her grandchildren were a source of consistent joy to her, particularly late in her battle, providing her the stamina and strength to battle her illness. She was heavily involved in many activities of her grandchildren and she couldn't imagine a day without seeing or talking to them. Her love, care, compassion and kindness will be greatly missed. She was an amazing wife, mom and grandma. In her heart, her kids and grandkids were perfect and could do no wrong. Tracey had so many dear friends, all who were so important to her. Tracey's sister Shawn and sister-in-law Kathy have always been a major source of friendship, comfort and humor. Tracey's faith had always been important to her as she attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church and more recently, Central Christian where she found great solace, hope, and inspiration as she battled cancer. Tracey was very active and she and Mike traveled frequently. Their trips to Hawaii each year were very special to her. But the opportunity for Mike to share Montana and Tracey to share Minnesota were some of their fondest. Tracey loved life and all of us who knew her are better people for having known her. Tracey is survived by her husband, Mike, son, Jason (Veronica), daughter, Allison (Jeremy), stepdaughter Lindsey, grandchildren, Tyler, Koryn, Talia, Deegan, Brayden, Austin and Brynn. Viewing will be from 5:00-9:00 Thursday, Oct. 19th at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Avenue. Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday Oct. 21st at Central Christian Church. Celebration of life will directly follow at Elements Cheer Gym, 6560 Spencer St. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Tracey’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Best Friends Animal Society. http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pxfid=2275815&pg=fund&fr_id=9910

Ms. Tracey always knew how to make you feel confident in your abilities even when you doubted those abilities. The "one finger touch" when ever she spotted you on something, or just how special she made you feel. I can only hope that I touch the lives of my students the way she did. She fought a hard battle against a disease that doesn't discriminate, and never complained. She is an inspiration to everyone and will be greatly missed. You Ms. Tracey!

Tracey and I danced together at Dorothy's for years. She was older than me but was always so nice and friendly. We also danced together when Bambi bought the studio when we were adults. We just couldn't stop dancing. We both loved acrobatics the best and loved doing double tricks together since we were about the same size. She always made being at the dance studio fun since she had such a passion for dance. I'm so glad we got to dance/tap together this summer! I will never forget it. Her faith and attitude was incredible!! An inspiration to me and all who spent time with her. We also taught Bambi's grandkids acrobatics on the beach which will always be a special memory. Just a last cute story that Tracey and I talked about the last time I saw her. Allison was working for the magician, David Copperfield, and the tour came to Jacksonville. I had made arrangements to see Allison after the show through Tracey. My 3 kids were with me. We were talking to Allison after the show, and David Copperfield walked up and asked if we wanted his autograph, and I told him we were there to see my dear friends daughter from Jacksonville. He did not know what to say. So to Michael, Jason and Allison and the family, I am so sorry for your loss of such a beautiful person in your lives. I will continue to pray for yall in the days ahead!! May the Lord bless you and keep you. Tracey will always have a special place in my heart! Sending love to you all from Jacksonville!!

I can't believe you are gone. I feel like it happened so fast. The moment I found out I cried. The girls loved you and every time I saw you I just wanted to give you a big hug! You just had such a welcoming and warm presence. We will miss you but we know we will see you again.

My heart aches at your loss. You brightened my Sunday evenings with your texts about a private for Sarah and made me smile on Monday's with videos of how much you helped her. We shared two evenings in tears at the cancer walk and you told me we would always have a special bond. I believe you!! I know you will always be remembered in your children and grandchildren's accomplishment and all the athletes lives you have touched. Miss you always.
