Tracy Lynn Smith

January 30, 1971 - November 8, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Tracy Lynn Smith, who left this world on November 8, 2024, at just 53, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After a sudden and fierce battle with a rare cancer, sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, Tracy was taken from us far too soon. Born on January 30, 1971, she was a lifelong resident of Hampton, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and laughter will leave a void impossible to fill.

Tracy was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her love for her family was boundless. Her children-Briana Hughson and her husband Jordan, Jacob Jansen and his wife Cassie, and her youngest, Chase Smith, only 17-were her whole world, and her grandchildren, Mason, Olivia, and Miles, brought her endless joy and purpose. Tracy's heart ached to see them grow, to share their triumphs and guide them through life, but her love and wisdom will live on through them, a cherished part of her forever etched in their lives. She was the best mamaw and their favorite person in the world.

For years, Tracy worked at Langley Speedway, where she wasn't just an employee but a dear friend to many. Her coworkers became a second family, and she brought warmth and kindness to all, offering a smile or a helping hand to anyone in need. She was selfless, compassionate, and always quick to lift up others, even as she faced her own hardships.

Tracy is survived by her mother, Joyce Robertson; her brothers, Lance Deaver (Paula), Leon Robertson (Sarah), Nathan Robertson (Nicole), and Matt Robertson (Elizabeth); her Aunt Brenda and Uncle Danny; and her cousin Lisa Bowling, who was as close as a sister. Her best friend Tolson, also like a sister to her, stood by her side through all the highs and lows. Tracy's beloved pets, Link, Mister, and Stan Lee, will feel the silence left behind by the person who loved them so much.

She joins in peace those she loved and missed dearly: her father, Robbie Robertson; her grandparents, Ellen and Chandler Wornom; and her cousin, Dan Bowling. Though her time with us was cut short, the memories of her warmth, laughter, and boundless generosity remain. Her passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who knew her.

A celebration of Tracy's life will be announced as soon as possible, as there was an issue with the church we had previously decided to have her service at. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GoFundMe established in her memory or directly to her family.

Tracy's departure leaves an emptiness in our lives that will never fully heal. Her unwavering love, her infectious laugh, and her gentle spirit have left an indelible mark on our hearts, and she will be mourned and missed more than words can say.

My wife and I came to know Tracy through Langley Speedway. She always brought a bright moment in our sometimes very busy days and evenings. Always cheerfully offering to help, wonderful positive attitude and generally nice to be around. It was always nice to see her when she would come to B&C to work with Debbie in bookkeeping as well. Sadly we lost a very important part of our team and she will be greatly missed by so many people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God bless you in the difficult days ahead.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. When my sister, Susie, was dying from cancer, Tracy was a mountain of strength and help...a caring and loving neighbor to Susie and David. Iam so thankful for her love and caring. I am sending prayers and love to her family. May the love of the good Lord give comfort and peace to you. With love, Jeannie Fitzgerald.

Tracy changed my life in so many ways, I have always been such a shy and timid person, but with Tracy i never felt like that. Being around her taught me it was more than okay to be myself and speak my thoughts all without judgement. i was never afraid to be who i was with her and she accepted and loved me from day one. she believed in everyone and all their dreams, even the ones that seemed impossible or even ridiculous to most. i truly wish i could one day be half the person she was. she taught me so much and ill miss just being around her and laughing with her so much. she was always so proud of everyone, even with the smallest of accomplishments, and she would make sure you knew it. she made everyone around her feel so special and loved. there´s truly no one else like her and the world is a little dimmer without her in it.
