Trent Thompson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2024.
Seattle - Trent Stetson Thompson was born to the late Dr. Richard Kenneth Thompson and Rochelle Robertson Thompson on February 5, 1972 in El Paso, Texas. He grew up with the small town feel of El Paso's west side in the 70s and 80s, making friendships that would last a lifetime. As a boy he had a passion for horseback riding, the Dallas Cowboys, Classic Rock, hiking and road trips. His family moved to the upper valley when he was 9, to a property large enough for a stable for his beloved horse. He attended St. Clements, summer camps at Prude Ranch and graduated from Coronado HS in 1990. Trent made his next set of lifetime friends in his fraternity while attending SMU. After graduation he began working in the accounting department at Nieman Marcus, where he realized that his life's passion was definitely not accounting, or any desk job for that matter. Trent was a wanderer; a seeker of beauty, knowledge and experience. Having traveled overseas many times in high school and college, he had the bug to see more of the world. He quit his job and began a journey. He backpacked through Europe, took a writing class in Prague, made a few more lifetime friendships then came back to the states where he slept on couches of friends and family all over the country until he found his way back to El Paso. It was there that a chance encounter, at just the right moment in time, lead him to me. We fell in love. We became best friends. We moved from the desert to the lush green forests of the Pacific Northwest. We grieved together when his mom passed away. We took care of his dad when he became ill. We had two beautiful babies. We made more friends. We learned to cook. We hiked and kayaked our way through Oregon, Washington and Canada. We drove the Alcan highway from Alaska to Washington and took a summer road trip through nine National Parks. We built an amazing life filled with love and a ton of big hugs.

Trent's energy passed out of his body on August 16, 2024 and now lives in the hearts of his survivors, Natalie, Hawkeye and Sage, and his many friends all over the world.

Details for a Celebration of Life will be provided at a later date.

Natalie, I am so sorry. I loved Trent from the minute he was born and became my cousin. I will always remember his big smile, his gentle spirit, and his zest for travel and life! We were blessed to see each other frequently as kids. Hugs and love to you, Hawkeye, and Sage.

Trent´s smile was always so warm and he was always the most gentle soul. A great loss for Natalie and the kids. May he rest in peace and many hugs for his family.

I grew up with Nat and Trent. My memories are that Trent was simply the best guy of all in his group of friends. He was the kindest, most gentle and giving of all of them. Everyone´s profound loss is a product of how meaningful his life was and will continue to be through those who are left to miss him.
