Tresa M. Pangborn, 98, died peacefully at her home in Midland on September 6. 2022. She was born on October 11, 1923, in Gladwin, daughter of Earl and Ellen Shell. She was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Shell, Gladys (Shell) Albee, Lucille (Shell) Shepherd, and William Shell. She attended Bay City Business College and worked at The Dow Chemical Company during World War II. On January 5, 1946, she married her fiancé and the love of her life, John C. Pangborn, only days after he returned from 26 months of service in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy. They moved to Midland in 1955 after John graduated from the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. Tresa is survived by her three children Robert (and Cindy) Pangborn, Thomas (and Vickie) Pangborn, and Julie Pangborn. She has eight grandchildren: Molly Pastermack, Katie Schubert, Christie Wherry, Emily Davies, Heidi Bartlett, Jackson Fisher, Hoback Fisher, and Axel Fisher. She has sixteen great grandchildren. John and Tresa were married 62 years. It was often said of them that they never left their honeymoon. They had many friends in Midland and throughout the country with whom they traveled, skied, and socialized. Tresa was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her funeral will be at First Methodist Church in Midland on September 17, 2022, with visitation at 10:00 am and the Memorial Service at noon. Interment will be at Midland City Cemetery following the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider The Salvation Army.
