Tyler M. Murray, 22, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 28, 2014 in Ankeny, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at Iles Grandview Park Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends from 12 noon until the service time on Friday. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded and private family committal services will take place at a later date.
Tyler was born on October 17, 1991 in Collinsville, IL to Kelly Michael and Wendy Ann (Hunter) Murray. He was a graduate of East High School. Tyler was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, and had an interest in MMA. He was also a big fan of watching his father and the sport of horse racing. Tyler, "Mama's Boy" and "Best Uncle Ever", loved spending tons of time with his loving niece/Goddaughter, Kota Ann. He also enjoyed being with his dog, "Boss".
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Wendy Hunter; father, Kelly Murray; sister, Kasey Murray; niece, Kota Ann; maternal grandfather, Melvin Hunter; and parental grandfather, Denny Murray all of Des Moines; eight aunts and uncles; 22 cousins; and a host of many friends. Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Phyllis DeLong; paternal grandmother, Nona Murray; and his beloved dog and companion, Skyler "Mama".
The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to the Tyler Murray Memorial Fund to be designated later; or to a favorite charity of Donor's choice.

Dear Wendy, Melvin, and little sweetheart kota - despite the problems we had as neighbors...I wanted to say How sorry we were to hear about Tyler. He was a good person who clearly had so much potential , it is a sadness for him to leave this world so young . My heart goes out to kota knowing that her ty ty was the main father figure in her life, I pray she finds peace and can get through this tradjety losing someone so close at such a young age. Wendy and Melvin, I know How close you all were and my heart goes out to u. I hope u can bring kota by sometime to play with taya. Best wishes sincerely,

When I coached him in youth basketball I loved his passion & love for the game. Your smile and encouragement in the stands meant a lot to our whole team. Our prayers are with you and the family and close friends. Tyler is a friend of my sons and use to come to our home with all the other kids in the neighborhood to jump on our trampoline.
