Today our hearts are breaking because Udo left this world on August 22, 2014 in 100 Mile House, BC to soar with the angels. There will be a huge hole left where Udo once stood, he was one of a kind cut from a totally different cloth. Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife Karen, Shar (Duncan), Rena (Rob), Ryan, Jackie (Rich), Shannon (Onkar), Stacey (Pete) Goodwillie, Ashley (Cody) and Oma Helga (Pete) Peters; Opa Gerhard, siblings: Irene (Bo) Work, Tos (Lillian) and Marina (Don), and several nieces and nephews and grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday September 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Whalley Legion – 13525 – 106th Ave, Surrey, BC. I remember Udo from the summer of 1970 when I visited Vancouver with Marina. Udo drove us through the mountains from Vancouver to Calgary. What an adventure that was! He was such a nice young man.

Udo was a huge part of our lives as kids growing up in Burnaby. My mother, Rita Nystrom, had a great sense of humour which all the kids in our neighborhood loved and she welcome all to our home. Most of the neighborhood kids congregated at our house and mom welcomed them with open arms. She always had a soft spot for Udo and often wondered where and how he was. I really enjoyed his company and often regretted losing touch. I hope his life was full and happy and that his passing was peaceful. Please accept my sincere condolences to your family and know that he will always be remembered with great affection by my sister Sandy & I. I like to think that he's somewhere up there having coffee with my mother and watching over you, his family.
