Valerie E. Burke Memorial services for Valerie Euginia Burke (nee Roath), 53, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Born Jan. 6, 1951, in Tokyo, she died peacefully Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Governor's Park Healthcare Center in Barrington, after a lengthy illness. Interment will be in Wheaton Cemetery. Val graduated from Glenbard High School. Her college studies led her to Bethel College in St. Paul, Minn., and then to Loyola University's School of Dental Hygiene, Maywood, Ill. After marrying Michael Burke in 1972, she moved to Texas, eventually settling down in Waxahachie. She is survived by her children, Laura Burke, Jenny (Joel) Bryant and Cheryl Burke; her grandchildren, Michael and Marcus; her mother, Pattie Shyrock of Wheaton, Ill.; her father, Rollin (Dorothy) Roath of Romeoville; her siblings, Sabra (Paul) Lang of McHenry and Daniel Roath of Wheaton; and by her niece, Kimberley Lang. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Michael Burke. Memorial visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations of stuffed teddy bears will be taken from the funeral home to the local fire and police departments to be shared with children in crisis. Many thanks to my friends, family, and co-workers for all of your support during this hard time. My mother is now in the greatest place of all; watching over us all. We will all miss her, and love her everyday. Keep an eye on us MiMi!!!
