VANESSA LYNN SHORTER
Lynn was a 1992 graduate of Stroman High School. She attended Victoria College and dedicated 22 years in the medical field to caring for others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Ellis, Jr.
Lynn is survived by her daughter, Emerald Shorter; her step daughter Jasalynn Shorter; her husband, Reginald Shorter; her mother, Dorothy Ellis; her brothers, Terry Ellis, and wife, Sandy; and Tim Ellis; her nieces, Ayanna Ellis, Andrea, Jona, and Alicia Shorter; her nephews, Gavin Ellis and Deion Ellis; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at and under the direction of Barefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2012, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Vernon J. Garza officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Gavin Ellis, Edwin Ellis, Kelvin Ellis, Irvin Simmons, Jonathan Shorter, Charles Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Harish Chandna of Victoria and the transplant team physicians at Methodist transplant Hospital of San Antonio.
Please direct memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.

To the Ellis and Shorter Family.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Lynn is in Heaven with Jesus, rejoicing with all of our other family and friends who are already present with our Lord. The only thing that makes this time bearable, is knowing that we will one day get see them all in Heaven. Just trust Jesus, second by second of everyday. Weeping may endure for a night but Joy will come in the morning.
We have loved Lynn since the day she was born. We will always remember all the good times she spend at our house. It was a joy to watch her grow into a beautiful young lady. Lynn touched our lives in a very Special Way. Like you said the other day, God only lent her to us for a little while and He came back to claim what belonged to Him in the first place.
