Services for Vann Newman, 52, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 1:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Newman passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born November 24, 1956 in Tyler to the late Lenton and Jesse Morris Newman. Mr. Newman was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. Vann loved music and attending classical rock concerts. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at El-Charro's on Friday nights. Vann attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler. He was a custom home builder and worked in commercial construction for Don Hill Construction Company. Vann most recently was an inspector for Wisenbaker, Fix and Associates. Vann is survived by his loving family including his wife, Leanne Newman of Tyler; daughters, Natalie Newman Prieto and husband Douglas of Midland and Lindsey Newman of Tyler; brothers, Lenton Newman, Victor Newman and wife Marjorie and Kelly Newman, all of Tyler; sisters, Shelia Gardner of Pritchett, Sherry Sullivan of Pflugerville, and Lucy Mockford and husband Dale of Austin. Vann will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kirk Newman, Brad Newman, Whit Barr, Jay Tucker, Mike Gazette, Dale Mockford and Robert Sullivan. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Friday, November 6, 2009 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703. Memorials in honor of Vann Newman may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane Suite 603, New York, NY 10038.
