Vera Hale Obituary
Vera Ellen (Crawford) Hale, of East Hartford, loving mother of Hannah Elisabeth Hale, and devoted wife of the late Pastor Darryl Hale, Esquire, passed away June 12, 2015, at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Born September 17, 1957, in New York City, she was a dedicated and determined student who graduated from Evander Child's High School in the Bronx, New York, and went on to get her undergraduate degree from Boston University, and a graduate degree from St. Joseph's College. Vera met, and fell in love with Darryl Hale, Esquire, and they were devoted members of the New Born Church of God and True Holiness in Newington. Vera had an infectious smile, tender heart, and loving spirit, and enjoyed instructing students as a teacher and counselor. She also treasured the time she spent at New Born Church of God and True Holiness as a Sunday school teacher, and in the numerous duties as a Pastor's wife. In addition to her daughter, Vera is survived by her parents, George and Shelia Crawford of Florida, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Preston Hale Sr. and Ethel Mae Hale of Arizona, three brothers-in-law, Gary Hale of Texas, Chris Hale and his wife Rochelle of North Carolina, and Preston Hale Jr. and his wife Lena of Texas, three sisters, Donna Johnson and her husband Jerome of Florida, Joan Crawford of New York City, and Kim Holland and her husband Douglas of Florida, three brothers, George Crawford Jr. of New York City, Philip Crawford and his wife Chantelle of Florida, and Kert Crawford and his wife Melissa of Florida, a special friend, Michelle Sessions of Connecticut, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the entire New Born Church family. A FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD FRIDAY (JUNE 19, 2015) AT 10AM DIRECTLY AT NEW BORN CHURCH OF GOD AND TRUE HOLINESS, 505 Church Street, Newington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, on Thursday (Tonight) from 6-9pm. PLEASE NOTE THE CORRECT TIME OF THE SERVICE AT THE CHURCH!

Vera..I heard someone say that we now have another angel looking over us...I feel that best describes what I feel when I think of the fact that your no longer here on this earth looking over me. As a big sister does..and that never ends. Having you for a sister, and also as an example (As my sister Donna so eloquently said), I only want to now show the world just what having you as an example to follow can accomplish. Not only in worldly affairs, but also as a SPIRITUAL example...and you were a most devout example. In a way that I don't fully understand yet, (as I'm still in a most severe state of grieving), But as I go through this process of loss, I know you've inspired me to be a better man, and a better human...being. I love you more then words can describe..rest my sweet big sister until we meet again...until we meet again.

Although we only met once, Vera struck me as a beautiful example of God's merciful outreach; she was visiting the sick in hospital. Her soft, gentle manner and deep faith left a lasting impression on me. May God raise her to a high rank among the denizens of paradise
