Vera West Obituary
Vera M. West, 88, formerly of Chambersburg, died on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, in the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home of Carlisle.
Born on July 3, 1920, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late A. J. and Bessie Henry Kauffman, and the widow of Max H. West, who preceded her in death on April 13, 2007.
A graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Vera was a member of Mt. Union United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Pa.
She is survived by her two children, Terry A. (and wife, Joan) West of Carlisle and Roxann MacAvoy of Mechanicsburg; her brother, Crawford Kauffman of Chambersburg; and two sisters, Leona Schellhase of York and Ethel Pogue of Chambersburg. Lovingly known as "Gram," she is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael, Kara, Jarod, Steven, Jonathan and Rachael; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Maxine Daugherty.
Private services will be held in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Garry Culler officiating.
