Victor Merloni

Victor A. Merloni, age 88, of Southboro, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a brief illness.

Victor was predeceased by his older brother, James Merloni Jr. of Ashland, and his son, Jeffrey Merloni Sr. of Southborough. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Anne Merloni of Southboro; his daughters, Susan Merloni-Serra of Southboro and Maria Merloni of Milton; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Merloni of Southboro, Kristen Loik of Westboro, Ryder Merloni of Southboro, Jennifer Coppinger of Southboro, Luke Serra of Boston, and Jamie Keup of Douglas; and one great-grandchild, "Teddy" Loik of Westboro. He also leaves behind his sister, Betty Minnucci of Southboro.

Victor graduated from Ashland High School, where he was humorously voted "most likely to be seen with a pillow" due to his love of naps. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958 before marrying Anne Marie Zucchi of Framingham. Together, they raised their three children and played a significant role in the lives of all their grandchildren.

As a skilled and respected excavation contractor, Victor operated V.J. Contracting for many years until retiring at age 60 due to severe arthritis. Known for his quick wit and storytelling, he enjoyed reminiscing about the "old days" and creating unique nicknames for friends and family. Victor's blunt and charismatic nature had his friends and family continuously entertained. He had an unwavering ability to make others smile and laugh, one reason of many why people valued his companionship. As an avid outdoorsman, he spent time hunting in Maine and fishing in the Great Lakes with his son Jeffrey. He also cherished vacations with family at White Horse Beach in Plymouth.

Victor's greatest joy was his family. His love and dedication to them remained steadfast throughout his life. His family takes comfort in knowing he spent his final days surrounded by those who love and appreciate him deeply.
