Victoria Ash Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2012.
Victoria C. Ash, 78, died after a lengthy illness August 19, 2012. Born, raised and educated in Boston, she met her husband while attending Jeremiah E. Burke High School and playing bass drum in the Arch Bishop Cushing Cadet Band. They were married in 1952 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Much of her life was spent as a mother and homemaker devoted to her family. She volunteered her time as a den mother for both the brownies and girl scouts at the Blessed Sacrament Mission in Roxbury Ma. She was passionate about playing the lottery and loved scratch tickets. A devoted Catholic, she said the rosary daily and watched mass on EWTN television network . Her family will remember her as someone with a huge heart of gold and as someone who always had a smile and compliment for those whose path she crossed, even when she was ill. She once gave her last dollar to a homeless man and had to tell the MBTA collector that her husband was an employee in order to get home.
She was predeceased by her brother Robbin Gatewood and sister Marilyn Williams. She is survived by her husband Paul Ash Sr. of S. Dennis, Brothers Herman F. Gatewood of Boston and David E. Gatewood and his wife Anita also of Boston as well as her Sister Conchita Williams of Jamaica Plain. Victoria also leaves her children, Paul Ash Jr. of S. Dennis, Patricia Taylor and husband Lance of Hyde Park, Anthony Ash of Worcester, Philip M. Ash of W. Yarmouth and Felicia Maria Pantoja and husband Daniel of S. Dennis. Her grandchildren Armando Pantoja, Jessica Pantoja, Candice Taylor, Lance Taylor Jr. also survive her as well as many nieces and nephews.
No visiting hours are scheduled. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church 5 Barbara St. South Yarmouth MA 02664 on Wednesday August 29, 2012 at 10am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to National Ataxia Foundation 2600 Fernbrook Lane Suite 119
