Victoria Hutchins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2025.
Victoria Louise "Vicki" Hutchins passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Kingman, Arizona, at the age of 68.

Born on April 18, 1956, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, Vicki was the daughter of Carl David and Barbara Hope (Schoen) Alpers. She graduated early from Lincoln Way High School in 1974 and married Howard J. Novak on April 27 of that same year. The couple later moved to St. Germain, Wisconsin, where they welcomed two daughters: Chrystal Renee and Amanda Kathleen.

Vicki began her career with the United States Postal Service in 1977 as a part-time clerk. Through hard work and perseverance, she rose to become Postmaster at the Woodruff, WI and later, the Sayner, WI office-an accomplishment that reflected her dedication and leadership.

In 2001, she relocated west to Las Vegas before settling in Kingman, Arizona. On May 1, 2008, she married Stephen Scott Hutchins.

Vicki lived life with vibrant enthusiasm and creativity. A published poet and avid hobbyist, she enjoyed genealogy, geocaching, antiquing, camping, line dancing, karaoke, bowling, crafting-and especially creating handmade treasures. Her loyal dog Pickles was a cherished companion throughout her adventures.

Her deepest passion was serving others through her church and community. Vicki was deeply committed to sharing her faith and ministered through tracts, gift bags, care packages, social media outreach and more. Among her proudest and most impactful contributions was organizing "Love on Kingman," a citywide event offering free medical care, dental services, haircuts, eyeglasses, clothing and food to hundreds over two years.

She is survived by her husband Steve; daughters Christy (Joe) Pacheco and Amanda (Tony) Nieto; granddaughters Isabel, Elena and Ana-Sofia; sister Valerie (Fred) Messick; nieces Jennifer (Jeff) Loucks and Tiffany (Brian) Wood; nephew James Messick; along with many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Barbara Alpers; mother-in-law Eunice Cox; and nephew Thomas Messick.

A service was held in Kingman, Arizona. Interment will take place at Mount Greenwood Cemetery in Chicago.

May Vicki's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire acts of kindness within the community she so lovingly served.
