Another year has passed & I have thought of Vinny. I met him as he was a student in PS 120Q. He was a wonderful enthusiastic boy who loved playing the drums. I appreciated listening to him. I have many memories of hearing him and sure miss knowing I'll never hear that sound again and never see his smiling face again. It's a great loss we, as his friends, have endured. Sleep well, Vinny.

I remember as a little girl we were at a fair of some sort. You and your band were playing. I was so excited when you let me go on stage and play the tambourine. I had no idea what I was doing, but remember feeling so special that you let me be a part of it. I remember being at Aunt Betty's so many times growing up, seeing you, playing with my cousins. I remember being in the basement where you had your music all set up. You were playing and singing, and I thought it was magical. You always made me feel included, like a "big girl." I know you and my mom are up in heaven, along with the rest of our family, looking down on us. I love you and miss you. I wish we had a chance to remain close, all of us, after my parents passed. I know we will see each other again in heaven. Until then, continue to look over our family.

Never met Vinny, but I knew his character. He was a person who you would never forget! Wish I could have met him... Knew one of his many family members from High School. Seems we all have that time in common, since we all grew up around each other! Music was a way he touched people. I can still hear the solid beat he's playing... We miss out on many things in life, but the things that are memorable are the little things we do for each other without even thinking about them. I am sure he did so many things for so many people. This was his character that I know so well!

I am in disbelief and I am feeling great sadness for the Sansone family over the loss of their beloved Vinnie.
I met Vinnie 9 years ago on one of my visits to his mother Bettys house. He was always a character and always had a smile and stories to share. As well as cheap vegetables by the box. That helped feed my hungry brood on the cheap. He was a wonderful son, brother and father and I am sure that their heartbreak is great at this time. Vinnie endured through much in his life but he knew how to spread joy through his music and wit and his caring personality. I never heard him complain, not even once. And I never knew a family closer than theirs. They were blessed to have had him in their lives and they will undoubtably hold onto the many memories that they all shared amongst each other. I send to them my prayers and love, knowing that it is not enough but it is all that I have to give. I am grateful for the few memories that I shared with him. It was an honor. I can only hope that the sons carry on their father's great spirit and that his spirit always remains with them. Vinnies' father also holds a special place in my heart. WHO DAT Mr.Sansone walking by your side? May father and son have peace eternally until they all meet again. Betty, I will always be there for your family. They hold a place in my heart and so do you. I love you and wish you the strength that you'll need to get through this unhappy time again.

Vinny, My Loving Brother and Friend: This is truly a difficult time for me and our family!!!!!
All the wonderful memories of having you as my brother will always be cherished and never forgotten. Vinny you had wonderful qualities about you. Vinny you always loved being around your boys and being around the family. You always liked to joke around with people and make them laugh. You were like a breath of fresh air and brought sunshine into people lives. Your caring and kind ways made you available to everyone. Your intensified vocals and the ability to play the drums were OUTSTANDING! I remember you singing at my wedding...Jay and The Americans "This Magic Moment". Everyone got out of their seats quickly to see who was singing? When they found out that it was my brother Vinny, they couldn't believe that he had amazing vocals. Vinny, You Were The "HIT" Of The Evening!!!! Although I lived in New York, there were many night's during the week that Vinny would call. We would talk for like an hour passing the phone around in my house because my brother wanted to talk to either Justine, Luis, Louie or myself. Sometimes there were nights that he wasn't feeling well because of the diabetes or long day at Kidney Dialysis. Vinny, I truly don't know how you did it? I've always often wondered how you had the energy and strength to go on band jobs, and made so many people happy with your vibrant personality and music. Vinny you had everyone fooled! I knew deep down inside that you really weren't feeling well. The music that you played was truly a gift from God. This is why God chose you as his messenger on earth to bring the joy of music to people. I thank God everyday that I was able to celebrate your 50th Birthday with you. We really had a wonderful time. I was so happy to see that you were happy. A couple of weeks later you went into the hospital. We didn't talk that day. That was the day I knew that I wasn't going to have those long phone conversations with you anymore.
Vinny, on April 17, 2010, you made your last sacrament of your Christian Faith. You have entered into the Kingdom of God, resting in Peace with Daddy and with all of your family and friends. Your journey into Heaven will bring you much love, peace, joy, happiness and music . I know you were welcomed with open arms!!!!!! Vinny you will truly be missed and the memories of you will always live on in our hearts. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To My Uncle Vinny: You will never be forgotten!!!!
Ba Boom Boom Bat Bat Ba Boom Bat is what you would play for me when you were still around. You were the best drummer I have and will ever come across for as long as I live.
My Uncle Vinny was the best person anyone could ever meet. He was fun to joke with, great to be around, and overall was the most talented person you could meet. Just a month ago I saw you at your 50th Birthday and I remember the look in your eyes, when you would say "Luis, I Love you, you are my favorite nephew and you always will be." Now I look back at all the laughs we would have, and I still can't believe God is taking you from me so soon. You use to call me 4 times a week. And my phone would Ring Ring Ring off the hook and "I'd ask my mom who is that"? "And she would reply "it's Uncle Vinny want to talk to him?" Without a thougth I would grab the phone and he would say "Is this my screwy Louie"? and I would say "yes, whats up Uncle Winny"? We would always talk about drumming, fishing or hunting. The three things my uncle and I had a passion for. He would always tell me he wanted to go on a fishing trip with me or go hunting with me, sometimes my uncle would even tell me he wanted me to play at one of his band jobs. But none of these things my uncle wanted to do with me ever came true.
The day my uncle walked into the hospital, I knew something was wrong. I would pray to God every night before bed and say "Dear God, please let me be able to do all of those things with my uncle that he wanted to do with me, give him another chance." That's when I found out bad news. I had flash backs of my uncle and my childhood, and what we would do together when I was younger.
At my grandfather's funeral he would say don't worry poppy is in a better place, a magical one, nothing like here. I would lean my head into his chest and cry on him. He would say "keep strong, don't worry, we are all going to see eachother again soon. don't cry because if this were my funeral, I wouldn't want you to cry, I would want you to be happy, I'm going with God and I don't have to be sick anymore." Now I find myself here, in the same position losing a uncle but not just an uncle, but my best friend.
I LOVE YOU UNCLE VINNY!!!!! RIP
LOVE YOUR NEPHEW LUIS

My Sincere sympathy to the Sansone family for their loss.
I have known Vinny since 1976 and have shared many pleasurable experiences together both in New York and Pennsylvania. The saturday night rituals we always had at his mom's house having coffee, cake and shooting the breeze will never be the same without Vinny coming home from a band job and joining in. You will surely be missed but not forgotten.

It's hard to believe it! I spoke to Vinny the day he entered the hospital. He was in his usual great spirits and told me he would see me next week for band practice. I never spoke to him again. I was part of Vinny's band - on and off- for 15 years. Even though we worked hard, our shows were like social engagements because Vinny always made these shows lots of fun. I've lost a good friend and we've all lost a great person. My sincere condolences for his family. Frank Benincasa

April 19,2010 Vinnie wasnt only a patient to me, although that is how we were first brought together. We had such a strong relationship and alot in common. I often told Vinnie that if we had grown up together I feel like he would be one of my best friends. Our relationship went far beyond the doctor patient level. I love Vinnie and will always remember him. I am so sorry that we all lost him this young.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those who loved and will miss Vinnie. Adam Dratch.

I am so disheartened about this. Vinny Sands gave me the opportunity to be a part of his amazing band "The Starter Dance Band" and I was looking forward to all of the possibilities of the band and working more with him.
