VIOLA MAE ROWE age 76 of Colon, Michigan passed away early Sunday morning December 20, 2009 at the Laurels of Coldwater in Coldwater, Michigan. She was born July 14, 1933 in Hamilton County, Indiana a daughter to the late Chester and Minnie (Salisbury) Inman. Viola had resided in Colon since 2000. Prior to that she had lived in Sturgis for many years and her early life was spent in the Brighton, Indiana area and she graduated from Brighton High School with the class of 1951. In 1971 she married David Rowe. She had been employed by Grumman Olson in Sturgis for 12 years. Prior to joining Grumman Olson she had worked at the Ivers Leigh Company in Shipshewana, Indiana. Viola enjoyed reading, time spent in the sun and traveling. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, David, One Daughter; Sheila (Jay) Wilkins of Cummings, Georgia, One Son; Marvin (Sue) Smith of Sturgis, Step-Daughter; Kimberly (Mark) Larimer of Sturgis, Step-Son; Roland (Lori) Rowe of Sturgis, Eight Grandchildren; Jeremy (Tera) Rowe, Alexis (Carl) Flowers, Andrea Rowe, Jake Rowe, Josh (Angela) Larimer, Merriah (Steve) Moore, Ashley (Darren) McKnight and Abi Larimer, Seven Great Grandchildren, One Brother; Alvin (Nancy) Inman of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and two daughters; Franka Friend and Yolanda Friend preceded her in death. The family will receive friends from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Viola Mae Rowe will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Bender of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Rowe's memory consider the Alzheimer's Association, 2300 Portage St., Suite 341, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
