VIOLET C. (HENDERSON)
Age 85, of Pittsburgh, died peacefully September 1, 2005. Violet was a career mother and railroad employee; a lifetime carrier of infectious friendship, laughter, unconditional love, tolerance and a source of strength to all family and friends who wondered into her grace. Her prayer box was never without just enough room for 'one more'. Her full blooded Scottish whit tempered with just enough compassion to take the edge off of her matchless sarcasm She was fun, funny and to the point. Loving wife of the late Arthur E. McGraw; stepmother of the late Betty Phillips. She is survived by Jack Dempsey (Janet), daughter Cheryl Harrell, son, Michael McGraw; loving grandmother of Debra Hackwelder (Bill), Jackie Dempsey (David) Wallace, Jason Machota (JodiLyn), Blake Machota (Melissa Sullivan), Aloha McGraw, Caledonia McGraw; great-grandmother of Julie Carson (Jim), James Hackwelder (Sara), Morgan Machota, Gillion Machota, Connor Machota, James Machota and great great-grandmother of Jacob Carson. Friends received Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES LTD., ROTH CHAPEL 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Rd.) Penn Hills. Services private. Donations may be made to Forbes Hospice, 115 South Neville St., Pgh., PA 15213.

Violet was wonderful. How great to have had a mother like her. I'm sure she's having a good laugh, pouring another cup of coffee and catching up on all the news with my Mom at this very moment.
