Virgil Skoglund Obituary

Virgil J. Skoglund, passed away at home on May 14, 2006. He was born in Waverly Minn., and was the eldest of five brothers. He served his country during World War II as a Sergeant in Patton's 3rd army in Europe. He received the Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, two overseas Service Bars, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany and a Good Conduct Medal. He married mom February 26, 1949 and moved to California in 1953. He worked at General Motors for 30 years and retired. After retirement, he owned and operated the Tropics Cocktail Lounge in Maywood, then the Viking Lounge in Santa Fe Springs featuring live music and exotic dancers. Mom and dad retired from the bar business in 1988. He loved to gamble in Laughlin and Vegas, the slots were his favorite. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jennie Skoglund; his three loving children, Rodney Skoglund, Carol Wilson, and Donald (Frank) Skoglund; four grandchildren, Tommy, Shannon, Daryl, and Sean.
