Virgina Kirk Obituary

Virgina "Ginny" Christofferson Kirk was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Moline to Bernice and Oscar Christofferson. Virginia attended Augustana College and married George Kirk, on Aug. 8, 1943. She was a former member of the Junior Service League of Moline, the Board of the Tri-City Symphony and served on the Board of the Rock Island County Crippled Children's League. Virginia was a member of the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club and a member of the "Hole in One" Society. She relieved her Real Estate License in 1955, last working for the Mel Foster Company of Moline. She retired in 1983 when her husband retired as the General Manager of the Metropolitan Airport Authority. In retirement they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.
Surviving Virginia are her husband of 61 years, George Kirk; her twin sons, Christopher Kirk and his wife Sheryl, of College Station, Texas, and Randall Kirk and wife Teresa, of Harvard, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Amy Kirk Minke, Justin Kirk, Andrea Kirk Megnin, Jared Kirk, Chris Richardson, Crystal Richardson, Misty Richardson Gentry; four great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Daniel Minke, Chase Richardson, and Taylor Gentry; and a brother Dwain and his wife Irene Christofferson, of Moline.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 3, 2004, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004 at Wendt Funeral Home. Interment will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal following the services.
