Left to celebrate her life and honor her memory is a large and loving family. She was the daughter of Maggie Irene Godwin Moore and Thomas Albert Moore, who along with brother Richard Moore, sister Erma Moore McDonald, and beloved daughter Dayle Bean, preceded her in death. Virginia became the bride of Billy Keith Phillips on June 2, 1945. Their marriage, a true union of hearts, was blessed with four children. In addition to Dayle (Foster) Bean, she was mother to Deborah (Talmage) Askins of Lake City, Billy Keith (Catherine) Phillips, Jr. of Florence, and Pamela (Roy) Stewart of Manning. She was 'Grannie' to fourteen grandchildren, Dennis Bean; Kelleigh Huneycutt; Brantlee Paris; Jessica Jenkins; Virginia Rhodes; Tal Askins; Jennifer April; Meighan Fraga; Kristen Illarmo; Stephen Phillips; BK Phillips; Lauren Schroeder; Rebecca Stewart, and Keith Stewart. She is also survived by sixteen great-grand children, brother William Gamble Moore, sisters Sylvia Anderson and Alberta Durant.
Virginia was a faithful member of Lynchburg First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Coline Beasley Circle, and sang in the choir for many years.
A passionate gardener and longtime member of Lee Gardeners Garden Club, she passed many happy hours cultivating and sharing her lovely flowers. Springtime always brought a burst of color and beauty in Virginia's yard.
Virginia served on the Winthrop College Board on Visitors and the Board of Lee County Council on Aging.
Virginia's life was a true testament to her love of her Savior Jesus Christ. So true of Virginia are the words of Proverbs 31: 28, 30, 'Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.'
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Lynchburg First Baptist Church with interment in the Lynchburg Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home.
The family request memorials may be made to the Lynchburg First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 188, Lynchburg, SC 29080.
Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of the arrangements.

Dear Mr Billy Keith,Billy, Debbie and Pandy, I was so sorry to hear of Ms.Virginia's passing. I so enjoyed the last visit I had with you both a while back. I will never be able to thank you enough for the time I lived with your family as a child during my mothers illness. Ms. Virginia was truly a mother to me over those months. She will always hold a special place in my heart as will the whole family. My prayers are with you and I think of you all so often. I was fortunate to have a fantastic visit with Pandy not long ago. Love to all and thank you again for sharing your family and Ms. Virginia with me. What a wonderful lady and mother. Much Love, Beth (McElveen) Rogers Maust

Mr. Billy Keith and family, I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Jenny's passing. She was indeed a special person...a true southern lady. I remember her very fondly, especially as a child when I'd visit with Trey and Mrs. Anna. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Billy, Debbie and Pam,
We are really saddened by the death of Ms. Jenny. I am so happy that she and your Dad came by Mom's house last December for her Birthday and a good-bye party as we were moving to Savannah. Your mom was one of the sweetest and kindest persons that I have ever known. I am sorry that I will not be able to make the funeral but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care of Mr. Keith and tell him I am sorry. Love, Kitty Sutherland
