Walter Fox Obituary
Naples - Walter (Walt) Davee Fox, 67, of Naples, Fla., died on June 15, 2020, with his wife and children at his side, as they were in life.
Walt was born in Bloomington, Ill., in 1952, to Walter Sheldon Fox and Katherine Davee Fox. He had three sisters he adored -- Margaret Fox Johnson-Greene, Sally Fox Sullivan, and Dianne Fox Enns. Walt had a lifelong love of the outdoors rooted in the Boy Scouts, Troop #3, where he became an Eagle Scout. A gifted student, he earned a bachelor's degree in Biology at The University of Kansas in Lawrenceville, Kan., where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He also earned a masters in Molecular Genetics from Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. During the years he was in Bloomington/Normal, he was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
Passionate about the sciences, he spent 35 years in the pharmaceutical sector at Johnson & Johnson, lending his talents in sales, marketing, new product development, and finally continuing medical education.
Walt married Linda Christine Nelson in 1988, raising their two children together -- Eric Nelson and Lisa Dianne -- in Flemington, NJ. After retiring in 2012, they played golf in as many places as possible before relocating to Naples, where he spent many a happy day with a club or a fishing rod in his hands. If you were lucky enough to be outdoors with him, he would teach you every bird song, flower and tree, and took great joy in talking about why they were special. Retirement also gave him the chance to volunteer as a Mentor for the Guadalupe Center Tutor Corps, and at the Naples Botanical Garden helping create hybrids of water lilies and orchids. Each gave him the chance to know people and have experiences he would never have traded.
A service will be held at United Church of Marco Island at 11 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, to remember Walt. Social distancing will be observed and masks worn. A livestream of the service may be viewed by clicking the Facebook link on the homepage at www.ucmarco.org. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Naples Botanical Garden or The Guadalupe Center. For online condolences, visit www.FullerNaples.com.

I'm sorry I didn't write sooner, I didn't know. Walt was really my first boyfriend in 1969, he was 17, I was turning 16. We met at the Inn in Nor, it was for teen dances then. He took me to the Bloomington Country Club for my birthday and gave me red roses. My family dog had puppies and he loved them an enjoyed feeding them. A really generous, fun-loving guy, even then. My deepest condolences; I know it is a huge loss.

Walt was my fraternity brother and best friend for over 3 years. I have thought of Walt numerous times over the years and each time the memory made me smile. We would drive down a street and he would point to every tree and give its scientific name. I always thought he made it up but I now know after all these years that he actually knew the name.

Walt was my first college roomate at the fraternity at University Of Kansas. We both experienced the fun times of our freshman year at KU. What a great roomie he was. He applied himself in the sciences doing a great job. I will miss his humor and laugh. BUT, his memory will live on inside my heart forever. My deepest sympathies to his family

Walt had the rarest of qualities: charm.
All of us wanted his company.
Lunch with Walt was always a pleasure at headquarters.
I was in the hospital with a smashed leg at the time of his memorial.
