WALTER SHELTON HUDDLESTON

HUDDLESTON, Walter Shelton Sr., 77, of Lakeside, died on June 15, 2013 surrounded by his family. Walter was born on September 11, 1935 in Dillwyn, Va., to the late Sydney A. Banton (Jessie "Nannie" Banton) and Sarah F. Huddleston. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy B. Huddleston; his son, Donald R. Huddleston; and a sister, Dorothy H. Driscoll. He is survived by his brother, Lewis B. Jamerson (Nellie); four devoted sons, Walter Jr. "Shelton" (Kathleen), David, Paul (Cheryl) and Brian (Melissa); and four grandchildren, Andrew, Hope, Faith and Taylor. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the USS Tarawa (LHA-1). He was a constant sight at the many games at Lakeside Little League and high school, whether it was keeping score, coaching or just being there watching, which meant the most to his family. Walter was the finest father, grandfather and friend. His love for his family showed through everything he did and in turn, he inspired others around him with this kindness. We love and miss you. A celebration of Walter's life will take place on July 13, at 6 p.m. at his house. Services provided by the Cremation Society of Virginia.
