My first "thrifting" book purchase at the age of 13 was a copy of Dr. Kokernot“s "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius. It deeply influenced my life. His legacy most certainly lives on as I approach the age of 52.
Blessings,

You were a great professor and mentor and helped me so much in finding myself in my love for literature. Your true passion for it always coming out in class.
I was happy to visit you for years after graduation and you always welcoming me and taking time to sit and talk.
I remember your sense of humor, your truly kind demeanor, your comical lack of organization (which I related to).
You lived your passion for humanity.
I am honored to have known you.

Walter I am so shocked and saddened that you are gone. You were the family member who listened to what I had to say and gave me words of wisdom from your heart.
I enjoyed all thoughts and ideas you shared.
You know more than I now I hope.
How will I ever know. I love you and those who love you.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences to the Kokernot family and friends for the passing of your dear loved one. Losing a loved one in death is never easy. One day many will have the opportunity to live again. May the hope of everlasting life sustain and comfort you during this difficult time (John 17:3). When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure in your heart and it lives forever. May the wonderful treasures fill your hearts with love and bring you peace.

We are saddened by the news of Walter's death and sorry that we cannot be there on Sunday. He was a fellow Victorian scholar who wanted his students to love literature as much as we did. I always appreciated that he generously shared teaching our favorite British authors. Walter could find common ground with anyone and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
