Wanda Ellison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 20, 2004.
Wanda Ida Ellison 1924 ~ 2004  Wanda Ida Brown Ellison, age 79 passed away peacefully, Wednesday June 16th in Sandy, Utah of causes incidental to age. She was born October 6, 1924 in Arco, Idaho to Ida Thelma Merrill and Walter Watson Brown Jr. She attended Idaho Falls High School. She married Albert Max Ellison in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on November 29, 1942. The couple was sealed to their seven children on May 9, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked as a professional waitress most of her life. After her husband passed away on May 17, 1964, she struggled to independently provide for and raise her children. In her later years she enjoyed working in Zion's National Park as a cashier at the Zion's Lodge. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan, always clad in her Jazz attire to enjoy the games. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at yearly Christmas and Easter parties. Wanda had a great sense of humor and kept us in stitches. The family wishes to thank those who have lovingly cared for the needs of our mother, our sister Debbie Sharp, and our friends at Christus St. Joseph Villa, Crosslands Care Center, and Hearts for Hospice. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her seven children: Robert Max (Linda), Merrillyn Judy Powell, Richard Albert (Shadalyn), Gary Wayne (Suzanne), William Thomas (Chris), Wanda Diane Gomm (Bryce), Debora Kay Sharp (Kenneth). Other survivors are her half-sister Laurel Dye, 30 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Max Ellison and her son-in-law Gary Powell. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hearts for Hospice in Wanda's name, 419 W. 30 N., American Fork, UT 84003. Funeral Services will be held Tues., June 22, 2004 at 12:00 noon at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 W. 4100 S. The family will receive friends at a viewing Mon., June 21st from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Tues. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens.

How very fortunate we are to be part of Grandma Ellison's family. She is so special and loved us all dearly. Her great grandson Nick thought she was wonderful and how lucky we were that he got a chance to know her. Grandma was a beautiful woman in so many ways. As much as she is missed we are so happy for her in her new adventure. I love you Grandma. Sheri, Mike and Nick
