Warren and Beverly Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2024.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Earl Reed and Beverly Joan Reed. Beloved partners in life they passed away within six days of each other leaving a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Warren Reed, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother was embraced by the Lord on June 26, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on February 23, 1933 in Minneapolis Minnesota to Ethel and George Reed. Warren attended St. Louis Park High School and followed his calling in Electrical Engineering at Dunwoody College of Technology. His professional journey led him to significant roles in Quality Assurance at Honeywell, Control Data and Graco where his contributions left a lasting impact.

Warren's life was marked by his devotion to family and faith. Warren married Mary Reed in 1956 and shortly after gave birth to a bouncing baby boy Randy. Warren and Mary enjoyed being on the water and entertaining as often as possible. After Mary's passing, Warren found love again with Beverly Reed. Warren's hobbies included fishing, singing, hunting, attending Minnesota Gopher games, card playing, and boating. He actively participated in three church choirs, a golf league in Mesa, AZ, and a gun club with Graco. In Warrens later years he loved to fix broken gadgets, work on his flower gardens, playing 500 and cribbage, watching reruns of old TV shows and playing with his great-grandchildren. Warren's infectious positivity and unwavering happiness were reflections of his faith and the love of Christ in his heart.

Warren is survived by his son Randy (Mari), and stepchildren: Tom (Debbie), Jim, Susan (Tim), and Patti (Dan). His grandchildren Nicole (Joe), Colton (Annie), Mike (Christina), Becca, Alan (Kaitlyn), Ryan (Brea), Kayla, Wyatt, Dani, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel (Peg) Reed, his former wife Mary Reed, and his brother Kenneth Reed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his spirit lives on in the memories and the love he shared.

Beverly Reed, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister was called home to the Lord on July 2, 2024 at the age of 92. Born on July 21,1931in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she was raised. She attended South High School in Minneapolis and was a baton twirler in the band. She dedicated her professional life to various companies including 20 years at Dr. Kraft Dental and a joyful tenure at the University of Minnesota as an administrative secretary in men's athletics. Bev was often seen as Goldy the Gopher at some of the events spreading joy and spirit among countless fans.

Beverly's heart was anchored in her family and her faith. She was a loving mother to her children and delighted in singing in church choirs, The Family Singers, Christmas decorating, bell ringing and kitchen band through her church. In her later years she enjoyed knitting, watching Wheel of Fortune and cheering for the Minnesota Gophers football team. Her active participation in the church and community exemplified her faith and commitment to serving others. She will be remembered for her caring and generous spirit, a testament to her life of faith and love for God.

Beverly is survived by her brother Harold Freeman (Sharon), her children: Tom (Debbie), Jim, Susan (Tim), and Patti (Dan), and her stepson Randy (Mari). The legacy of her love extends to her treasured grandchildren: Mike (Christina), Becca, Alan (Katelyn), Ryan (Bria), Nicole (Joe), Colton (Anne), Kayla, Wyatt, Dani, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eileen and Harold Freeman, and her husband Warren Reed. Her departure leaves a profound void but her spirit and the memories she created will forever enrich our lives.

Warren and Beverly: A love story and testament to God's divine plan.

Warren and Bev shared a love story that spanned decades filled with joy, laughter and unwavering devotion. Their journey began in 1991 and from the day they met, it was clear to everyone around them that their bond was something special, a connection that only grew stronger with each passing day. Married for 32 years they were inseparable companions who built a beautiful life together traveling often in the U.S and abroad. Together Warren and Beverly faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, always finding strength in each other. All who entered their home were met with love and friendship.

When Warren passed away, Bev's heart was broken. She followed him to heaven just six days later. Now reunited in eternal peace Warren and Beverly's love story continues in the hearts and memories of their loved ones. This is a testament to the enduring power of faith, hope and love. Much like the lyrics of one of their wedding songs, "On Eagles Wings," they were lifted high on the wings of God's love, made to shine like the sun and held in the palm of his hand. Warren and Beverly will be dearly missed by all their family and friends.

Warren and Bev were great friends to Kent and me. (We knew Warren from "the early days" at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, where we all sang in the choir.) We shared a fun trip to Reno, Nevada, shortly after Warren and Bev started dating and then later we enjoyed visits to their home in Arizona. We always had fun with them, whatever we did or wherever we went. They were "the salt of the earth" kind of people that you never forget. We had not seen them in recent years, which was our loss, but our memories of them will last forever.

My name is Jean Lund-Drew. I live in California, but was born in Minnesota like most of our relatives. My Grandma Chlo was the sister of George Reed, Warren's dad. We lived in the Chicago area, but every summer on our 3-week vacations all over the country, we stopped in Minnesota to see our relatives, including Uncle George & Peg, and Warren & Ken. I remember one 4th of July parade where Warren & Ken elevated my sister and I on their shoulders so we could see the parade.

When Warren married Bev, I would visit them in Arizona where my parents, Roger (Warren's cousin) & my Mom Ruth had a home close to Warren & Bev's.

On holidays, birthdays, etc. Warren & Bev would call & we would have a fun discussion about what was going on in our lives. We never lost touch despite the distances between us. Their wonderful, upbeat attitudes made every conversation fun!! They visited us in California once and I had intended to visit them this summer, but that, unfortunately didn't happen. Bev called me a few days before Warren passed away, and I was able to tell him how much he meant to me. I spoke with Bev several times after, and was so sorry to hear the news about her, too. They were a great pair and had such a wonderful life together.

Although I don't know all of their children, I want them to know how much Warren & Bev meant to our family and to me over the years. I really enjoyed reading the obituary, filled with so many highlights of their lives and their devotion to each other and their families and to their church.
.
I wanted to come to the Celebration of Life, but am unable to because of my husband's operation. I will send a donation to The University of Minnesota Cancer Center in their names. Jean Lund-Drew

Here's a picture of Warren, Beverly and Randy, October 1995 at Nancy and my wedding. I'm Skip Bradford, I've known Warren practically all my life. I grew up with his son Randy..we are the same age. Warren has done many things for me. He taught me how to water ski. He wouldn't let me get up on two, he gave me three chances and on the third try he said.."No more tries" but I got up on one, on that third try. Only 10 or 11 years old.
I was trying to get into the helicopter pilot program and needed a letter of recommendation...I'm betting that Warren's letter was what got me in. I owe my career to him. I will miss both Warren and Bev...they are a couple of greats.

I was lucky enough to get to know Bev at Sterling Pointe, I would see her every month when I did her nails, which she loved and sharing her stories of her family and her next project she was making for them ! I will definitely miss her !
