My condolences to Mr. Hellman's entire family. He was larger-than-life & has left so many people with great memories of his music & political principles. We were so furtunate to hear him at GOF & Strawberry....RIP

As a bluegrass fan, Lowell and Cal Grad, water polo player, avid skier, community activist and supporter of all kinds of local activities, Warren certainly lived life to its fullest. He was truly a great San Franciscan, Californian, and American. Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has been an amazing event and legacy - Thanks, Warren.

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Hellman on behalf of the UC faculty community. Of his many contributions, Mr. Hellman's generous support of a small grants program for junior faculty made a huge difference during difficult times for many of us. I remember sending a thank you note to Mr. Hellman assuming it would quickly be lost in a large pile of correspondence at his office. Instead, two weeks later I received a long, hand-written letter form Mr. Hellman in which he asked thoughtful and perceptive questions about my research. We continued our correspondence for months. A truly amazing man. We are all grateful to have known him.
