Wayne Schriber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2025.
Wayne L. Schriber, 86, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Novi, Michigan. Born on January 24, 1939, in Cass City, Michigan, Wayne lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family and friends, and an enduring zest for life.

Wayne built a distinguished 37-year career with American Airlines, where he not only contributed to the company's success but also pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by founding The Detroit Metropolitan Airport News-a publication that served as a valuable resource for the airport community. His time at American Airlines was more than just a job; it was a source of pride and joy that reflected his passion for people and connection.

After retiring from the airline industry, Wayne embarked on a second career working at The Dream golf course in West Branch, Michigan, where he found great satisfaction in being part of the golfing community. His enthusiasm for this role was evident to all who met him there.

Wayne's warmth and humor left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. Known for being thoughtful, caring, and kind-hearted, he had an innate ability to make others feel welcome and valued. His great sense of humor and genuine interest in people earned him many friendships over the years.

He cherished time spent with loved ones-especially during visits to St. Helen, Michigan and winters in Englewood, Florida. Whether enjoying a hamburger or heading out for pizza, Wayne embraced life's simple pleasures with joy. A car enthusiast at heart, he had a particular fondness for Corvettes and delighted in conversations about automobiles.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marilyn Schriber, and his son John H. Schriber. He is survived by his son Tim (Kathy) Schriber; grandchildren Brent Schriber, James (Megan) Schriber, Lauren (Jason) Riske; and great-grandson Wesley Schriber.

Wayne's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with kindness and laughter. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A celebration of Wayne's life will take place at a future date.
