Wayne Sibley

Leader, mentor, proud father, loving husband, caring grandfather and great-grandfather, Wayne Kelly Sibley (aged 78), went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Livingston Parish, and passed away at his home surrounded by his family in Walker, Louisiana. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Jeannette Eve Lockhart Sibley; two children, David D. Sibley and wife Deborah of Walker, Angela Sibley Boulahanis and husband John of Hammond; two grandchildren, Logan K. Sibley and Kasie Guarisco of Walker, and Alex C. Sibley and wife Michelle of Walker; step-grandchildren David Kennison and wife Julie Jackson Kennison, Michael Kennison, and Anthony Williams; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Sibley and Savannah Sibley of Walker; two step-great grandchildren Jackson Kennison and Kenlee Kennison; brother, Alfred K. Sibley and wife Patsy Moran Sibley of Walker, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and other family members he kept dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lela Mae Crowder Sibley and Monroe "Boy" Sibley, Jr.; two siblings, Maxie Sibley Thompson and Madee Sibley Edwards; niece Antoinette "Toni" Cantor; father in law Leroe Lockhart; mother in law Alice Williams Lockhart; brothers in law Jesse Edwards, Charles M. Thompson, Vernon Lockhart, and Carter Cain; as well as sister in law Debra Sue Lockhart. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Once his son was of age, he shared these passions with him and then with his two grandsons. He served in the United States Army in the 5th Infantry Mechanized Division. Following his service years, Wayne became active in politics and in his community, serving on the Livingston Parish School Board for 17 years and has been a lifelong member of his church, Mangum Chapel United Methodist Church in Walker. One of the most jovial people you could ever meet, Wayne always had a smile on his face, even in the most difficult of times. He enjoyed laughing and would do whatever he could to put a smile on your face. He never missed an opportunity to turn anything and everything into a learning experience, frequently using phrases his family coined as "Wayne-isms". Wayne saw opportunity in everything that life threw at him and was a very hard worker. He retired from ExxonMobil after 33 years, ultimately getting to travel the world and live abroad in places such as Singapore with his wife Jeannette. With his passing, his entire family loses one of the greatest men they could have shared life with, a man who put his family first, and a man whom they could always count on. He will dearly be missed by his family, as well as countless friends and acquaintances he has made throughout his entire life. Visitation will be held from 9a.m. to 12p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Mangum Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 31366 Cane Market Road in Walker, Louisiana. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend James Moore beginning at 12:00p.m. at Mangum Chapel United Methodist Church, internment to be followed at The Sibley Cemetery (adjacent to Mangum Chapel UMC). Pallbearers will be E.A. Covington, M.L. Lockhart, Alex Sibley, Logan Sibley, Glen Jones, and Kelvin Lockhart.
