Wilbur S. "Bill" Murdock, 90, of Mesa, AZ, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2008. The eldest of five siblings, he was born in Minersville, UT, March 7, 1918 to Edmund H. Murdock and Hallie Osborne. Wilbur met Natelle Clayton in 1941, and after serving in World War II, they were married in the Arizona Temple and settled in Mesa to raise a family. He worked in construction as a commercial builder, and as a tax assessor for the State of Arizona. A cowboy at heart, Wilbur enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be his backyard or the open road. After Natelle passed away on October 24, 1980, he retired and traveled around visiting family and friends. In the spring of 1985, Wilbur "Bill" met Vivien Nelson at a church dance, and they were married in November 1987 in Mesa, AZ. Together they served an LDS mission in Singapore (India/Malaysia) and a year later, another mission in Australia. Bill is survived by his wife Vivien, brothers Allen Murdock and Reed Murdock, sister Lorraine Wood, his six children: Ed (Joanna) Murdock, Monte Murdock, Larry (Nan) Murdock, Moneta Murdock, Corina (Alex) Curtis, Cherie (Kent) Burrell, and their families; step-children: Kristi (John) Anzivino, David (Julie) Nelson, Stacey Nelson, Tally (Andy) Johnson, and their families. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 30th at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens and Mortuary, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 31st at the LDS chapel located at 1007 S. 72nd St., Mesa, AZ , with visitation one hour prior.
