William Aken Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 7, 2024.
William Earl Aken of Yuma, AZ passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 28, 2023 at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife Minnie and five children, Cassie Williams, Bobette Bauermann, Brett Aken, Ted (Sheri) Aken, and Lori Baird. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Bill married the love of his life, Minnie, in July of 1960, after only knowing each other for 3 days. They were married for 63 years.

He was born and raised in California. He grew up with a passion for music, and loved to play his guitar and sing for anyone who would listen. Bill and Minnie enjoyed the California lifestyle while Bill got to play music with some of the biggest stars in the business.

After relocating to Idaho in the 80's, Bill opened his own business as a talented electronic technician. While this was his primary profession, he continued to produce music and make friends in the industry.

In the early 2000's, they decided to retire to Yuma , AZ, where they enjoyed living in the warmer, sunny climate.

Bill's wishes were to be cremated. No funeral or memorial services are immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.

When I asked for a bit of his time Bill and Minnie invited my wife and me to their apartment and they spent an hour with us over coffee. I did not expect that, but Bill and Minnie were so kind. Bill autographed my copy of his book, and I gave him one of my small art pieces emphasizing his guitar. We talked about many things, but Barbara and I will not forget the time given to us and the kindness of Bill and Minnie. God bless Bill and Minnie.

I really miss. Bill´s Facebook. But I´ve been wondering how Minnie is doing now. It has to be tough for her without Bill. Everyone should have a marriage like theirs . R.I.P Bill.

My grandpa and I both shared a love for music! He was able to hear my first song when I released it with my husband last January and went as far as to show love toward it on Facebook to all his other family and friends as well. He and I lived further away from one another but I´m glad we had something in common on something such as music that was something he cherished deeply. Grateful for the few times I was able to get to see him. Love granddaughter, Savannah Wellman (Aken) and my condolences for my grandma Minnie we love you and are keeping you in our prayers
