William Barbee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22, 2010.
William E. Barbee, 78, of Dennison, O., passed away on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 24, 1931, in Mount Morris, Mich., he was a son of the late Harold and Viva (Lightfoot) Barbee.
A longtime resident of Tuscarawas County, Bill was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in the class of 1950 and a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Bill was a retired truck driver who had also worked for Greer Steel for many years. He was a member of Hey Jack Sportsman's Club, enjoyed fishing and loved the pugs that he raised.
On April 29, 1992, Bill married the former Veronica L. Frymyer, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Spencer and her husband, Robert, of Uhrichsville and Kathleen Smith of Baltic; three sons: Zachary Downing and his fiancée, Samantha, of Uhrichsville, Cory Downing of the home and his companion, Danielle, and Joseph Mazzoleni and his wife, Debbie, of Port Washington; five grandchildren: Travis, Taylor and Tyler Mazzoleni, Samuel Barker and Madison Downing; a step-grandson, Brady; and a great-granddaughter.
Bill is also survived by three brothers: Jack Barbee, Clyde Barbee and his wife, Sandy, and Robert Barbee and his wife, Judy; a sister, Phyllis Liberatore and her husband, John; his father- and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Vickers; two sisters-in-law, Gladys and Edna Barbee; a close friend, Howard Holt of the home; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Barbee; a son, Christopher Downing; two brothers, Mike and Harold Barbee; and a dear friend, Clyde Schwartz.
According to Bill's wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held Feb. 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dennison Eagles. Memorial donations may be made to Bill's family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
