Mrs. Bentz,
I´m sure you don´t remember us, but in cleaning out some records I came across a letter you and Col. Bentz had written us just after we moved into the house we rented from you in Lake Ridge, VA, from 1979 through 1982. That prompted me to look for Col, Bentz online, and I came across this obituary. Our belated but deepest condolences. Your husband led a very illustrious career. But he was also an excellent landlord and a very friendly person. The letter was so kind and thorough in explaining features of the house, and we really enjoyed the brief visit we had with you some time later. May you find peace and blessings in your memory of him.

Karla and family,
Our deepest sympathy and condolences to you. I have so many fond memories of our time in Ft. Bragg together. My dad was honored to have him serve under his command.

Col bentz was a fantistic leader of troops and always fair and honest. He took this E6 under wing and treated me like a son. He was a good person and i am sure his whole family misses him dearly, my sympathy and feeling of loss is shared. Amen

I was an enlisted soldier that served under col bentz in Berlin. Col bentz was a better than average racket ball player and challenged me when he had time. Col bentz was a great human being and fair leader to all his troopers. He would come get ammo shot shells on new years eve to full fill his tradition. Col bentz treated me like a son and guided my inexperienced way, i thought about him often, SFC Gary Blankenship.

On behalf of the 519th Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Battalion (Corps), our hearts go out to COL (R) Bentz´s family. We thank you for sharing him with the Army and specifically the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion. COL (R) Bentz´s leadership from June 1979 to January 1981 touched the lives of countless Soldiers and Families and he remains an example for the Thunder Battalion Commanders who continue to follow in his footsteps. We pray that you know he led some of the finest Soldiers the Army has seen and that COL (R) Bentz did so with the same Army Values that guide us today. Thank you for supporting him as he led us.

I was honored to meet Colonel (R) & Mrs. Bentz a few years ago during the UDROTC awards banquet. Their sense of pride shined through the memorial presented on behalf of their son. Great family.
Thoughts and prayers to all! RIP Sir!
