William Blatty Obituary
William Peter Blatty (age 89) passed away on January 12, 2017 in Bethesda, MD. Born in New York City, NY and later settling in the Washington, DC area where he worked as an author, director, and screenwriter. He is survived by his wife Julie Alicia Blatty, and his children Christine Charles, Michael, Mary Joanne, William Jr., Jennifer, Paul (Janee) Blatty. Proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mary (nee Mouakad) Blatty, and his son Peter Blatty. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church, located at 9200 Kentsdale Dr., Potomac, MD 20854 on Thursday January 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Legionaries of Christ, or Aid to the Church in Need.

Mr. Blatty's THE NINTH CONFIGURATION ("Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane") was a huge influence on my own tv and writing work. He wrote modern day masterpieces and was a profound director. My deepest condolences to his son, Billy, who once shared insights with me about this remarkable dad.

Prayers, thoughts, & deepest condolences go out to the family & friends of William Peter Blatty. His amazing novel,"The Exorcist", is one of my all-time favorite books & the movie was terrifying! At the other end of the spectrum, "The Pink Panther" movies were among the funniest films of all time! Mr. Blatty was pure genius without a doubt. May he rest in eternal peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him.
