William Bruner

William John Bruner passed away on January 17th, 2025. Bill, as known by all his family and friends, was born November 17th, 1941, to Felix and Lucile Bruner. He was raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and called Detroit his home for his entire life. After graduating from Cranbrook Academy in 1960, Bill attended Miami (OH) University. He graduated with a degree in Business in 1964. Bill was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army serving his country in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his meritorious service.

By entering the travel agency business, Bill was able to combine his passion for travel with a successful career. It is in this business where he met his wife Sherry, along with many cherished friends who got to share in his life.

He and Sherry married in 1976 and spent their years traveling the world together. Bill used every opportunity he could to show Sherry and his sons and close friends the world through experiences they would never forget. Bill and Sherry always kept their family guessing about their next destination.

Bill was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed tailgating at UM games and listening to Tigers games on AM radio.

Bill was predeceased by his wife Sherry in 2016. He is survived by his beloved sons David (Christina), Todd (Nicole), and Alan Bruner. He is also survived by his grandchildren Abby, Ryan, Steven, Gina, and Jackson, cousins Sylvia and Suzanne and many treasured friends.

The family wants to thank Rose Court at Fox Run, Ascension Providence Hospital of Novi, and Brighton and Compassus Hospice for caring for Bill in his final years. The family will be hosting a memorial and internment at White Chapel Cemetery for family and close friends on February 22, 2025.
