William Borges Freitas age 91, of West Bridgewater, died November 16, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Betty L. (Macey) Freitas. Bill was born and raised in West Bridgewater a son of the late Joseph and Isabel (Coelho) Freitas and lived in the town for most of his life. Bill had attended Howard High School and had been a carpenter for the family business R. B. Freitas in Brockton for 30 years. Previously he had been employed at Dartmouth Shoe in Brockton from 1943-1964. Bill was an active exhibitor and breeder of exhibition poultry. He was a member and past president of The New England Bantam Club, specializing in fancy and exhibition poultry and pigeons. He had exhibited his birds at the Brockton, Marshfield and Middleboro Fairs. Bill will be remembered for his love of his family, willingness to help those in need and his ability to share his knowledge of poultry breeding. He was an upstanding gentleman who was loved by all and lit up a room when he entered. Bill is survived by his two daughters Joanne Burbank and her husband Jim of Attleboro and Kristine Roberts and her husband Allen of West Bridgewater, five grandchildren Lisa VerGow, Trisha Cuccinotta, Jamie Burbank, Jackson and Jefferson Roberts and five great-grandchildren Emma and Jacob VerGow, Owen Burbank, Aaron and Bella Cucinotta. He was the brother of the late Manuel, Anna and Richard Freitas, Elva Kelly and Josephine Burroughs. Visiting hours held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 4 - 7 p.m. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 9 a.m. for a funeral Mass in St. Anns Church, 95 N. Main St., West Bridgewater at 10 a.m. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Donations in Bills name may be made to Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
