William G "Bill" Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2025.
Wiliam G "Bill" Allen, 85, was born in Farmington NM on June 24,1939 to William S. Allen and Melba J. Nabors Allen. Bill passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on April 15, 2025 in Farmington.

Bill spent his early years on the family farm and orchard on South Route 3 in Farmington with sisters Eulalie and Virginia. Known then as the "Allen Farm," fruit trees were soon replaced by homes to become Mossman Gladden's Valle Grande. A 1957 Farmington High School Graduate, Bill attended Ft Lewis College, NMSU in Las Cruces and then joined the USAF 1961-1965 mostly stationed at Dyess AFB, TX. In 1966 he obtained his degree in Finance from McMurry University in Abilene, TX. It was 1959 when he met his future sweetheart, Glenda Gish, and on September 8,1961 they married at the First Methodist Church in Farmington. Time took them to Abilene, Texas, Albuquerque, Mineral Wells, Texas and then back to Farmington in 1969. September 8, 2024 they celebrated their 63rd Anniversary.

Bill was a kind and gentle man who loved the Lord, his family and his country. He especially enjoyed his morning quiet time in prayer and Bible study, camping, playing tennis, racquetball, handball and in his senior years, pickleball. While a Deacon at Mountain Vista Baptist Church, Bill also taught an adult Sunday School Class and Wednesday evening patriotic classes. He was especially instrumental on the building committee of the new Mountain Vista church building. A realtor for 29 years with Century 21 SoWesCo Realty, Bill loved his work and especially his realtor family. In recent years he enjoyed just being comfortable at home with Glenda and their family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Melba Allen, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Eulalie and Phil Jerome, Virginia and Chuck Miller.

He is survived by his wife Glenda, son Greg (Georgette) Allen, son Geoff Allen, and daughter Eve Lynn (Mike) Clawson all of Farmington. Granddaughters surviving their grandpa are Tessa (July) Shay of Goodyear AZ, Hannah (Eric) Castaneda, Michaela Clawson, and Heather Allen. Also surviving is Georgette's daughter Cierra Manus, and our guy, Elijah, all of Farmington. One year old August James Shay and newly born on April 24, 2025 Christopher Daniel Castaneda survive their great-grampa.

Also surviving Bill are his many friends, his cousin William Hal Nabors, niece Vickie Gurry both of Farmington, nieces Dena Schindler, Starla (Peter) Robinson, nephews Britt (Lorraine) Miller, Jeff (Kristen) Jerome, and their families, his 'in-law family' Bob Gish, Julie Gish, Kristine & Dennis Russell, Jean Elise & Kevin Smith and nieces and nephews Gerrod, Jamie, Dennis, Miranda, Leah, Brittany and their families.

Dear Glenda & Family, Although I knew Bill's health was fragile, I was saddened to see this sad news. Sincemy family moved to Farmington in 1953, I have always know members of the Allen family and you all are so special to me! Bill was such a kind, good-hearted, gentle man who always wore that wonderful smile. I treasure my Allen memories as I sit in my home, the original Allen home in Valle Grande. With my deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Love, Gwen

We are sad to hear about Bill. We knew him when we were maids at the La Placita and worked for his mother in law. God will see Glenda and the family through this time. Marty and Alice

The Allens were our neighbors in Farmington, and their grandchildren our best playmates growing up in Valle Grande. Bill was a grand Farmingtonian and will be remembered as a kind, strong leader of the community, along with Glenda. Our sincere sympathy to the family in your loss. The Morrisons
