HANNAH, William (Bill)
Passed away peacefully on the bright spring morning of April 23, 2017 at Laurel Place Hospice in Surrey, BC. Bill was born in Comox, BC on January 17, 1924 and spent his childhood years growing up in Comox Valley. After High School and during World War II he joined the Army and the Canadian Scottish regiment. His regiment landed at Juno beach in Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944 and he proudly served until the end of the war. Upon his return he moved to Nanaimo where he met and married Viola Matson. They moved to the lower mainland and raised a family of four children, Harry Anaka (Sandra), Bill Hannah (Jeannette Nixon), Darlene McLaughlan (Tom), and Susan Payment (Ralph). Bill and Vi were active in the Lions club for years and enjoyed line dancing for over 30 years during their retirement. Bill golfed until his late 80's, he really enjoyed his games at Coyote Creek and Poppy Estates. We will miss his great smile and jokes. Bill and Vi were very involved with their grandsons Robby and Danny in their retirement years. Bill enjoyed a long active retirement and only recently moved to Fleetwood Villa in Surrey, BC. The Family would like to thank Dr. Mugisha for his caring help over the years and the staff at Laurel Place.
