I met Bill while I was in high school working at Payless Drug Store in downtown Yakima. I was smitten by a cute blonde who worked in the pharmacy and Bill advised me that I was merely a high school jock and that I had so much more in store for me and that she was older and other "lookers" would come my way. So I did not pursue this maiden.....but Bill did....and married her....yep...we are talking about Lorie Volskey. I unfortunately have lost touch with Bill and Lorie but no one can take away the memories I have, we have, of those fun days at Payless Drug store. Bill was a good friend and mentor during that important stage in my life....growing up.

I was so sorry to get this news in the mail today. Bill was one of the neighborhood kids. We got together and played baseball in the cow pasture and explored the swamp behind the neighbor's house. Haven't seen him in a lot of years, but it's like I've lost a piece of our childhood.

I met Bill many years ago while playing softball. I have many memories of Bill camping, fishing and parting. Bill was one hell of a guy and will forever be missed.
Sorry I was unable to attend his service but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lorie, Brad, Brian and family, we are so sorry to hear about Bill. Bill was an intelligent, handsome, kind, generous, funny man. Although it has been many years since the "boys" played slow-pitch together....Oh what great memories were made! Bill was so funny always playing the practical joke: "The Snickers candy bar & Mountain Dew ...poop" and the dirty cat joke" just to mention a few. As Ms. Thornton mentioned ....Bill could light up a room with his beautiful smile. He loved his lovely wife dearly; and was a stand up father. Truly an original! God bless you Lorie and family. He will always be with you.

Bill was one of the stand-up men in my life, a class act & a true gentlemen. He will forever make a lasting impression. He could light up a entire room by just giving his charming smile:)He taught me more about life then just about anyone. I will be forever touched by him. & Yes Bill, I will see you in Margaritaville, thank goodness it's not in southern Cal, right? Your legacy will forever live in your wonderful boys & grandchildren. God bless & Love you always~Tia

I have many memories of the times that Bill and I shared. Bill was the first journeyman that I worked with and he became my friend and mentor.
Bill was able to make a person feel respected and part of the team, by usually catching you up in one of his jokes or pranks. His wit was sharp and humorous.
One morning before work in a muddy parking area he broke out his fly rod and started casting to a puddle of standing water to make light of the wet and rainy day before us.
Bill would play a joke out for months baiting you just for the right time. And, if you ever received a black eye by using his binoculars you understand.
Bill was a wonderful friend who always had a great story to share whether at work, a dinner, hunting or fishing. He made the day enjoyable!
Bill, I will miss you and always remember you. My favorite Veteran.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Bill's family and friends. We all lost the companionship of a wonderful man.
P.S. Brad and Brian, take care of your Dad's mongoose.

Thank you all for your kind and loving words. As I will miss my rock, inspiration, teacher, coach, mentor, go to guy, and father. Everything that he has taught me I will pass down to my children, so that his legacy will never be forgotten... With every ounce of love that I have, his son Brad.

Dave and I met Bill through softball many years ago. Bill and his family are very close to the whole bunch of us, we've had many great times with Bill, Lorie and the boys. I count my lucky stars he was able to join us at our home last July for a team reunion. Bill had a very big heart and was always one of the first to get involved with anything. Many years ago Bill rebuilt our front porch, we never use it without thinking of him. We all have a very special angel watching over us.

The loss of cousin Bill will impact so many that loved him. My mother (Rosella) was Al's sister and while growing up we would spend time with Uncle Al's family, both Bill and Doug just felt like big brothers to me. That smile of Bill's could warm anyones heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Love Kim (Strong) Lobe

I met Bill over 40 years ago when we worked together in Yakima along with Lorie.I'm sorry to say we didn't keep in touch other than Lorie being in my wedding 4 months after hers. He was a special guy and I was so sad to see that he had passed away. My prayers are with you Lorie and your family. I'm sure he is cooking up a storm and playing golf in the skies above. Take Care....

I worked with Bill as a fellow Carpenters Union representative for many years. As a Job Corps instructor, as an organizer and as Safety Director he was a prince of a man. He was a good friend and I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear that our family has lost another dear cousin. The last time we saw Bill he had grey hair at his temples only. It doesn't seem that long ago. My condolences to Uncle Al, Lois, Bill's family, and Cousin Doug and family. Bill was a good man.

Bill and I met playing softball and became good friends and team mates. We always had lots of laughs, at all the softball get togethers. I was fortunate enough to speak with him on the phone right before Christmas. It ment alot to me to wish him and his family a Merry Christmas and share a special moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

Bill and I met through softball 40 years ago, and like everyone, I couldn't help but love and respect the guy. He was a true friend and true compadre for better or worse. There was no challenge he would not accept, no limit to which he wouldn't go for his friends. He was so often the life of the party. He is and will always be missed.

Bill was a fellow veteran and such a gentleman to golf with. I will always have a special memory of Bill giving a speech on Veteran's Day to honor his fellow veterans and golf buddies at Mt. Adams. Part of the speech was done in Vietnamese and because several of us were there for that conflict too it had a special meaning for all of us Viet Nam veterans. Bill was a pleasure to golf with and no finer gentleman ever graced the fairways or clubhouse with their presence at Mt. Adams Country Club.
