William Lee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2019.
On Friday, July 26, 2019, William (Bill) Harry Lee, MD, loving husband and father of four children and four stepchildren, passed away at the age of 72.

Bill was born on September 2, 1946 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Harry and Alma (Collart) Lee. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1964. After earning undergraduate degrees in economics and political science at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, class of 1969, Bill went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City. He then continued his training at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles for his internship and residency in OB/GYN. After working as an OB/GYN for more than 40 years and delivering over 6,000 babies, Bill, made a transition to age management. He was the board-certified age management physician at Age Management MD in Centennial, Colorado. Bill was passionate about helping his patients reach their individual health and wellness goals.

His desire to help his patients improve their well-being drove him to write the book "Over 50 Feeling 30" and contribute to the book "Journeys to Success."

He not only loved helping patients but also his wife, Sue, with her charity, Sock It To Em Sock Campaign. He rooted for the Denver Broncos and the Kansas Jayhawks. In fact, he led the "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" chant as the Jayhawk mascot while he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Kansas University. Additionally, Bill loved his cats, ice cream, and pie – although not necessarily in that order. He also loved singing and entertaining family members by playing the guitar – and the only song he knew, Puff The Magic Dragon.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Sue Elizabeth (Enochian) Lee of Denver; daughter Amy, husband Wynne and son Pierce Hunter, of Tucson, AZ; son Ryan, wife Julie and children Aurora, Cordelia, and Calvin Lee, of St. Louis, MO; son Scott Lee, of Fort Collins, CO; son Alex Lee, of Littleton, CO; stepson Taylor and wife Andrea Berkholtz, of Denver, CO; stepdaughter Whitney and husband Greg, children Maxson and Benton Chiate, of Tiburon, CA; stepson Tony and wife Erika, children Sam and Maddy Cesare, of Sydney, Australia; and stepson Ian and wife Kristin Cesare, of Silverthorne, CO. In addition, he is survived by his sister Sondra and her husband Bob Rathjen, of Lincoln, NE ; brother Paul Lee and Cheryl Roberts, of Durango, CO; sister Nancy and her husband Nick Funston, of Brevard, North Carolina; and 3 nieces and 5 nephews.

A Memorial Service is to be held at 3 PM, August 16, 2019 at First Plymouth Congregational Church UCC, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd. Englewood, CO 80113 with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sock It To Em Sock Campaign a 501c3 that provides new socks for men, women and children experiencing homelessness. Bill's wife Sue is a founder of the Sock It To Em Sock Campaign. Donations can be sent to the Sock It To Em Sock Campaign at 7765 Lebrun Court, Lone Tree, CO 80124.

Today is my son’s 25th birthday, so I thought I would Google Dr. Lee to see what I might find. I was saddened to see of his passing. My 25 year older son was my first. Dr. Lee was not on call the Friday evening he was born, but he stayed with us til I delivered. It meant the world to me! He was also with me for the births of my 2nd & 3rd sons. I am so grateful for his care! He was truly a great person!

Just learned of his passing, so sad I missed his services. When I first met Bill Lee in the mid 80's he was with a group of young OB/GYN's that all went to school in CA together. I have some great memories from the 4 years we worked together. We were a great team no matter where we were and we moved a lot. He was quiet a first, but once you got to know him you appreciated his dry sense of humor. I ran into him 20 years later at my work & we chatted a bit to catch up. He was still driving a Porsche, but it was a new one lol. He loved those cars! That was the last time I saw him. My condolences to his family, he is gone too soon.

I have known Dr. William Lee for 38 years. I have had the pleasure of being his friend, colleague, and partner. His easy going manner, straight forward approach, and caring attitude made him an easy individual to like. He was supportive and understanding. His patients loved him. We will miss him but always remember him. You take a part of us as you ride off into the sunset. Adios Amigo

Dr. Lee was more than THE best doctor I've had the blessing of having in my life. Beyond helping me have the best health I've ever had in my life, (at age 55 no less), he helped me with resources to be a better mom, sister, friend, and member of the human race. He was so incredibly generous with his wisdom, and yet the level of gentle humbleness he exuded was astounding. I miss him dearly. I will continue to thank him for his role in my life. God bless you, Dr. Lee, for not only making my life more meaningful but for benefiting all those I touch with your depth of brilliance.

My friend Sue, my heart weeps for your loss. You are in my prayers, Joyce

The day I was to deliver my daughter, Dr. Lee came into the room at Swedish Hospital and said with a small grin, but very serious (which was his wonderful sense of humor) - "It would be very thoughtful if you would remember how many appointments would be interrupted, so if you wouldn't mind having your baby over lunch," and then the grin. I asked what time lunch was.
I delivered my precious baby girl at 12:21 during lunch that same day.
I could hear his big footsteps running down the hallway as I had pushed three contractions....
Dr. Lee walked into the room with the biggest smile, "I meant tomorrow!"
I smiled and said I wanted to help out.
He was truly the best, the moment of my daughter's birth was so touching when these jumbo hands handed me my five pound daughter. He was funny, tender, kind and a blessing to all of us who knew and loved him for his beautiful heart and soul.
All my prayers and love to all at the office, his family and friends.
Heaven needed another angel. God bless you Dr. Lee.... you truly made an impact on the world.

Dr. Lee was my anti-aging, BHRT doctor since 2005. I honestly don't know where I'd be today without his expertise. He used to take at least one hour for each and every lab review appt./consultation. We would talk about many things (besides my hormones) and in fact became online email friends, as well as having dinner out or going to football game with my husband (who was also a patient of Dr. Lee's). I will miss his genuineness, and his fun banter... I'm not sure who I will turn to for my care, but I'm sure it will never be able to duplicate the relationship I experienced with Dr. Lee... God speed.

Dr Lee was my doctor for over 30 years and delivered all three of my precious children. I had high risk pregnancies and I credit him with personally saving the life of my daughter who is now almost 21 and an amazing young woman. He always treated me with love and respect and just the right amount of humor. I will miss Dr. Lee and I send my love and prayers to his family. May you Rest In Peace.

Bill was a senior my freshman year and new pledge with the SAE's at KU. Everyone was very busy. Bill was busy getting into medical school. The freshman were busy learning how to make it in college. My pledge father was busy earning an architecture degree. He was a ghost. Bill stepped in the void and made sure that I got off to a good start at KU. I only knew him for one year, and barely remember the conversations, but they were important. He was a wonderful role model and inspiration for everyone he talked with.
From reading a bit about his history it sounds like he continued his guidance and help for his whole life.
Thank you Bill Lee.

I met Bill during my Internship in Ob/Gyn at Los Angeles/USC Medical Center. That was 1974! In addition to being my Senior Resident during our residency, Bill has been a true friend, partner, and colleague who Made A Real Difference in each life he touched. He represented the profession of medicine with the utmost respect and professional conduct. I will miss his friendship, love and guidance he shared with me over the past 45 years. God Bless Bill, Sue, their entire families and friends. I
