William J. Maher Jr., 68, formerly of Conshohocken Pa, residing in San Francisco since 1987, passed away on Dec 26th.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Maher. He is survived by his loving wife Lilivon, his two children Bill and Sarah, plus 4 sisters and one brother, Kathy (John) McCarthy, Mary (Dave) Richards, Ann (Jim) Callahan, Ed (Janet) Maher, and Maggie (Bub) Marchese. In addition, he Will also be missed by extended family including, Lira, Eljin, Leonardo Jr., Leilani and Shin, furthermore, his many nieces and nephews and godson. Will leaves behind numerous friends…too many to name, including those from his teamster days in S.F. and his lifelong friends from the east coast.
Will was a heavy equipment maintenance specialist in the U.S. Army, a retired teamster, local 278, an active member of the Temple Baptist Church and an avid Oakland A's and Raiders fan. He had a lifelong passion for rock and roll. Will loved people! From the homeless in the park, to the baristas in Starbucks, the bakery workers at Safeway and even those passing him on the street he made a connection.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4th, at 1 PM, at the Temple Baptist Church located at 3355 19th Ave, San Francisco. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice By The Bay in Marin County.

I miss Billy... thought of him recently and made my pilgrimage to Amoeba Records. Like we did so many times...then Today.. driving home...He was looking down .what came on the Radio? ..a live recording of the Grateful Dead playing on this date. 12/26)1979..from Oakland..and they were playing... He's Gone!!! ..Billy is missed every day... The World could use more people like Billy...He was my Friend!
