Aunt Gert, Michael, Dana, Bill, Laura, Tom, Barb, Jim, Jan and your beautiful families,
It was very sad to say goodbye to Uncle Willie last week. The silver lining is that we could all be together for a time. I'm sure Uncle Willie enjoyed watching from heaven :)
Love,

To the Mellett Family -- I am so very sorry for your loss. Mr. Mellett taught me to drive and I will always remember that. The one time he told us to drive wherever we wanted to go, I took off for Noblestown Road to go toward Carnegie!! Got as far as Oakmont Service Station and ran out of gas!!!!!!! Got enough gas to get back to the Crafton station where we spent the rest of the period :):):) My thoughts and prayers go out to you!!

My deepest sympathies to the Mellett family. I had Mr. Mellett for classes at Carlynton. He always cracked me up! Years later, after high school, I used to see him at Bally's on a regular basis. He still remembered me from 'ol Carlynton high. He was always a joy to talk with! God Bless!

Dear Mellett Family, I was so very fond of Mr.Mellet he taught me how to drive as teacher at Carlynton. I enjoyed talking to him in the hallways between classes and he was always so kind and full of joy.He was a excellent teacher.
Years later I learned that he was my husbands neighbor growing up and Tim thought as highly of him as I did. I am so sorry for your families loss, but very grateful to have had the opportunity to be taught by a great teacher and fine human being . God Bless all of you.

Dear Mellett Family,
I remember when Mr. Mellett was my Driver's Ed teacher. We did our on road driving over Christmas vacation. I already had my drivers license so we just drove around. We helped some West Allegheny wrestlers out of a ditch and stopped at the meat market in Crafton. Mr. Mellett was a wonderful man.

Dear Mellott Family,
We are so sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I fondly remember Bill's wonderful sly sense of humor, always a joy to talk and listen to. As a new faculty member at Crafton High in 1958, Bill made me feel welcome and comfortable. Helena and i always enjoyed getting together with faculty for hamburgers at LaVakes and fish fries at Youngs restaurants outside of Crafton.
Our condolences to the family.

Dear Mellet Family,
As a former colleague at Carlynton High School I have many fond memories of Bill, I had a good experience working with him. His love of sports was near and dear to him, and he enjoyed talking about the teams, their scores and records. Bill especially took pride in the jobs he had keeping the score books for various teams.
May God give you strength to get through the rough days and joy in knowing many people thought highly of Bill.

Dear Mrs. Mellett, and family:
I was sorry to read of Mr. Mellett's passing. He taught me how to drive in 1972 (he was a brave man). I remember him only once "correcting" me in a harsh manner (I starting driving up a "one-way street" the wrong way).
There are not many teachers who touch your life in such a way that years later they still hold a special place in your heart. Mr. Mettett was one of those teachers to me.
Please know of my prayers for you and the family. I pray the good memories you have will bring some comfort to your hearts and a smile to your face.
Warmly,
Rev. Jack McKinsey

Mr. Mellett was one of the teachers at CHS whom I remember fondly. In Drivers' Ed. class he showed infinite patience and good humor. It was my privelege to shake his hand at last year's CHS reunion.
He was one of the "good guys" for sure. God rest his soul.

I remember Mr. & Mrs. Mellett's visits to St. Louis to see their son Bill's family. Mr. Mellett would stand in Bill's driveway and holler over to me, "How ya doing?". He'd always have a story or a quip to share. He would talk to me about Penn State football, parenting and whatever else was on his mind. He'd also always have a stick of gum for my son Andy!
Bill & Laura, your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Coach Mellett made football fun and rewarding. His humor and style of dealing with players made him a great assistant coach. ( And as much as he harranged me, I never did come to a complete stop at a stop sign when in his drivers ed class.)

Mr. Mellet taught me to drive and always had enough faith in us to put his cup of coffee on the open door of the glove box. It was probably his way of keeping us focused on driving since no one wanted to be the one whose driving spilled that coffee on his lap. A very good man who impacted so many of us at Crafton.
