William Ritchie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 14, 2018.
William Johnson "Jack" Ritchie
93, Fullerton
Jack Ritchie, known for his deep love of family, service to our country, successful entrepreneurship, and incredible generosity; went to be with our Heavenly Father on December 27, 2017 surrounded by friends and family.
Born on December 6, 1924, Jack was one of 7 boys born to Clinton "Mack" and Virginia (Collins) Ritchie. The boys were raised on a farm in Lousiana before most of them headed off to WWII. Jack served in the SeaBees between 1943 and 1946, being deployed to the South Pacific.
After returning from the war, he helped raise his two children, Sandra Dyer (Rick) and Gary Ritchie (Dana), with his first wife, Marie (Carpenter). He built a successful business, which he eventually co-owned with Gary. Some years later, he met and married his beloved wife Letha. The two had two children, Kenny Ritchie (Vanessa) and Jacque O'Barr (Jarred). He spent his retirement fixing up old cars, running a wave runner racing team and spending time with his family.
Jack was always there to help a friend in need, and was often known for buying dinner for everyone in a group. Many people admired him for his generosity and entrepreneurship. He leaves behind a legacy and will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife Letha, four children and their spouses, as well as 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Jack was laid to rest on January 5, 2018 at Loma Vista Memorial Park. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Sorry to just hear of Jack's passing. He truly was a kind person. I loved hearing his stories about growing up in Louisiana, how he ended up in Los Angeles, and how he took on GE and negotiated a business deal away from GE. He was an amazing man!

Back in 1980 when unemployed, Jack gave me a chance and an opportunity for a future in which made me the person I am today. Not only was he an employer but a close friend to me and the family also. A truly great and generous man of whom will sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Forever grateful, Mick Atherton & family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Jack was truly a remarkable human being. He loved his family so much. I will always remember the Indian Guide/Indian Maiden camp outs with Jack, Leatha, Kenny and Jaquie. Good times. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.

My Father in law was one of the finest men I have ever known. His kindness, zest for life and generosity is unsurpassed by anyone I have ever known. He truly was an inspiration as he used the bible as the rule and guide for his life. I can only strive to reach the heights to which he climbed the ladder of life. I rejoice that he is in the arms of Jesus. WE all miss you Jack.
