William Sheeran Obituary

William James (Bill) Sheeran passed away June 13, 2018. He was born November 17, 1941 to Leo and Mary Sheeran in Sarita, Texas. He is preceded in death by parents, sisters Cathy Schultz and Mary Lee Pfau and first wife Sarilyn Sheeran. Survivors include his dear wife Patricia of twenty-two years, brother Joseph (Rhonda) Sheeran of Kenedy, sister Patricia (Robert) Jaime of Deer Park and mother in law Loraine Jaroszewski of Corpus Christi. Also surviving are children Karen O'Brien (Matt) of Corpus Christi, John Steelhammer (Kim) of George West and Terry Steelhammer of San Antonio, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
William was educated in Falfurrias attending Sacred Heart Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Falfurrias High School in 1959 with honors. He received a B.A. from Pan American University and Masters from Texas A&I University. He was a member of the 4-H club winning Gold Star Winner, FFA, Senior Playcast and played All District football, basketball and baseball. William was a member of teacher organizations and secondary principal association having served on the state board for six years. He was a teacher, coach, counselor and administrator primarily in Sinton and Mathis. He retired from Windham School District. He was also employed at TAMUK as a professor in the Department of Education. William loved to hunt, play golf, visit with family and friends and travel with his lovely wife and best friend Patricia. He was Lutheran.
Visitation will begin 4 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Dobie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Gussettville Cemetery in Live Oak County

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Sheeran. I knew Bill early in life when his Dad (Leo) was the foreman for a ranch in Southern Brooks County where my father also worked. Bill and I crossed paths again in early 1980 when he was School Superintendent at La Gloria ISD just north of Falfurrias. I was an educator at La Gloria School and worked there with Bill for a couple of years. Bill was an outstanding leader and was known for his tough discipline but was well liked and respected by all the students. My condolences to the family and may you cherish all the great memories Bill has left you. May he Rest in Peace.
