Valley, AL- William Thomas "Tommy" Wages, 86, of Valley, AL, passed away February 13, 2016 at Tallahassee Memorial. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, and beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST with Ben Ward officiating. The Interment will conclude the service at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST at the funeral home.
William Thomas "Tommy" Wages was born July 4, 1929 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late F.H. Wages and Edna Hartshorne Wages. Tommy was owner of Tommy Wages Honda, as well as, Honda, Kawasaki, Sea Doo of Columbus. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Tommy's passion was racing motorcycles and speed boats.
Other than his parents Tommy is preceded in death by son, William T. "Bubba" Wages, Jr, two sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Joyce Wages of Valley, Alabama; three daughters: Gloria Braddy and husband Herman of Waverly Hall, GA; Yolanda "Lonnie" Ward and husband, Glenn, of Upatoi, GA; Ashley Pope and husband, Travis, of Cumming, GA; a sister, Anne Stanford of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren: Dr. Julie Braddy-Roberts, Ben Ward, Kimberly Colwell, Jax Pope, and Ashelin Pope; ten great-grandchildren.
Tommy was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and caring friend and will never be forgotten.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Columbus Hospice for the kind hearted service provided to Tommy and the Wages family during this time.
Flowers will be accepted. Those choosing may make a contribution to Columbus Hospice.
