William Welch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 6, 2025.
William (Bill) Welch, 90, of North Reading, Massachusetts for 66 years, departed peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, after bravely facing a traumatic brain injury earlier this year. He joined his cherished wife, Camille (Arena) Welch, just four weeks after her passing.

Born on June 18, 1935, and raised in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, Bill had an exuberant zest for life. He actively participated in athletics including racquetball, handball, golf, cycling, and skiing. In his senior years, he could be found on his daily walks at Ipswich River Park in North Reading, proudly completing 5 to 12 miles a day. His quick wit and striking blue eyes made him a known figure around town. He was active in the Boosters Club, founding member of the Touchdown Club supporting his son's high school football teams, a Webelo Scout troop leader, an officer and member of the Knights of Columbus, and participated in golf leagues at the Hillview Country Club. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and pool, where he hosted many lively barbeques, and loved a good beer, lobster and steamed clams from Maine. Bill owned his own dental lab for many years and was a master at his craft, until his retirement in 2000.

Bill is survived by his children, Diane, Donna, Billy, and Brian and his wife Jennifer. He was an adored grandfather to 12 and great-grandfather to 10. He was Uncle Bill to many nieces and nephews, who enjoyed his entertaining disposition at family gatherings with his brothers' and sisters' families. He is predeceased by his sister Patricia MacDonald, brothers James, Robert, Richard, and Frank, as well as his grandson, Scott Welch.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to wear blue, his favorite color, and attend visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, Massachusetts, on Saturday, October 11 from 10 AM to 12 PM. A funeral service will follow immediately after, where Bill will join Camille at Oak Grove Cemetery, in Medford. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to the Brain Injury Association of America. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and condolences during this difficult time.

Bill and Camille will celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary on October 10 together, as they did every year in life. Their love story and legacy to their family is unmatched and an example of unwavering devotion, even in passing.
