Willie Jordan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2017.
Willie John "Chick" Jordan of Houston, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, the 25th of March 2017. He was 92 years of age. Willie was born on the 7th of February 1925 in Corsicana and moved to Bellville in 1935.
He graduated from Bellville High School in 1943 and entered the US Army the same year. Willie was very proud of his service in both WW II and the Korean conflict. Upon returning from the war Willie graduated from Blinn College and attended South Texas College of Law. He enjoyed 35 years as a Sales & Service Manager at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1986. As a faithful Christian, he attended Pilgrim Lutheran Church serving as an usher for 40 years. When relaxing, Willie enjoyed country music, a cold beer, and a plate of Texas BBQ.
Willie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille Jordan; parents, Marvin and Ella Jordan of Bellville; and is survived by his daughter, Lisa Elliott and husband Ken of Bellville; son, John Jordan; granddaughter, Ashley Searcy and husband, Colby; and great-grandson, Ryker Searcy, all of Houston.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Clarewood House and Houston Hospice for their compassionate care of our father during his time of need.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 28th of March, in the drawing room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 29th of March, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 8601 Chimney Road in Houston, where Pastor Wayne Graumann is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family in the nearby parish hall.
The family will then gather for a private interment at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in his name be directed to the Fisher House Foundation; 111 Rockville Pike #420, Rockville, MD, 20850; or to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.

Willie was a dear friend, highly respected telephone man, devoted family man, and Christian.
We worked together in the same office off and on for many years at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. We even "car-pooled" during our lean years in the "50's".
Willie was a mentor to many telephone employees. He loved to teach!
His vast knowledge and understanding of the business and how it could benefit customers was often demonstrated.
He set a high bar for himself and his employees.

When I think of Uncle Chick, I mostly remember his sense of humor, his love of a cold beer, his pride for serving his country, endless domino games in the garage, and most notably his enduring love of his family. He made for a pretty good dishwasher too. As a kid, I remember laughing at him when he talked back to Tootsie (under his breath of course). So many memories, Chick. While I mourn your loss, I am so happy that you are with our Lord and reunited with Tootsie!

Chick and Lucille were both Loving people. Always made us feel welcome. More recently, I can still see Chick setting in his rocker in the garage enjoying his beer and country music. Eloise and I will miss his great personality and his friendship. We have known Chick for over 47 years.
