Knoxville, TN
Zaevion William Dobson, the son of Zenobia Dobson and Lionell Kimber was born June 28, 2000, and went to the Kingdom at the sound of the trumpet on December 17, 2015. Zaevion was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. He was a true disciple for his Lord and Savior. He became our hero. Zaevion was a member of Martin Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed attending Wednesday Night Men's Bible Study. He was a sophomore at Fulton High School where he played linebacker on the football team. Zaevion loved football. He would come home from school, play the game, eat, do homework, and watch football footage.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Matthews; great-grandmother, Katherine Steele; and beloved aunt Judy Dobson. He leaves to cherish his memories, a faithful and loving mother, Zenobia Dobson; father, Lionell Kimber; brothers, Markastin Taylor and Zackelyn Dobson; grandmothers, Pearline Dobson, Dollie Kimber, Janet Matthews; uncles, Kevin Dobson, Dane (Lucille) Washington; aunts, Talanda (Byron) Dobson, N'Kenge McDowell, Robin Johnson, Sharon Kimber; great-aunt, Annette Hardin,Evelyn Coats; devoted cousins, Mark (YaWanda) Dobson, J'Tia Williamson, Demarkus Dobson, Dane Washington Jr., Jontae Dobson, Derrick Mitchell, Amani Williams, Jaylen Dobson, Dewey McNair, and Damari Washington, Jazity, Mikeeia, DeAirus, Nathan; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 26th from 11:00 am – 12:30pm at Overcoming Believers Church, 211 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37915. Funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm, with Daryl Arnold officiating and Walter Cross of Martin Chapel UMC, eulogist. Interment to follow at New Gray Cemetery to conclude with dove release ceremony. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday morning. Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L. Buckmon, LFD, 1-800-824-8283, www.pattonfuneralhome1962.com.

I remember hearing about the story when it first happened and it just broke my heart, just finished watching the 24 Strong documentary and cried thru out. I was just so truly heart broken for his family especially the mother since I am also a mother who raised 2 sons in the "hood" and just can't imagine the pain of losing one would have been like and how do you endure. Only with your faith and trust in the Lord is how. I admire his mom and brother for continuing to honor him and not letting his memory and spirit be forgotten. I will pray that the Lord continues to watch over this family and that He continues to give them the strength they need to keep keeping on

Upon hearing of Zaevion's courageous act of greater love given for these young ladies, truly he exemplified what our Lord said in His Word in John 15:13. I just saw the segment on the pregame before the Super Bowl...I have never been moved to the degree I was with this story. The power of this act by your son shall ring soundly thru out eternity. Our time in the physical world is limited and unfortunately Zaevion's was even more limited , but his spirit is eternal.
