I did not know the Colonel, in fact. my best wishes and prayers to his family. I thank you for his service. It is a tragic time that retired service members of such an important time are sadly leaving us. They will be missed, so much wisdom. I had the opportunity in middle school, to talk with both veterans of ww2 and holocost survivors on school trips. It's something that will always stay with me. I know all their souls live on. such courage, such calm, strength, It saddens me that my children (someday) will never get the first hand knowledge I was so blessed to get. They will be missed!

To Jack, Gretchen and all of the Lawhons that we grew up with in our high school years I Read the News Today.. Oh Boy. I'm very sorry to hear of your father passing away recently. His obituary shows he had an incredibly full and interesting life, and we are fortunate that some of it was spent in Scranton. I have great memories of hanging around your house and all of the things we did as a group of friends. Best wishes to all of the Lawhons, and may you find happiness at this sad time as you reflect on his life.

I was so sorry to hear of the death of "The Colonel." A significant part of our young adulthood was played out in the comings and goings at the Lawhon home on North Washington Ave., and what a wonderful, multi-faceted texture of life we found in the spirit of the place he helped create. May he rest in peace, and may you all know you are remembered with love.

My sincere condolences to the Lawhon family. Col. was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met. Col. was my boss in the Registrar's and was always fair and thoughtful. At the end of the day, he would often thank the staff for a good day's work. The world has lost a very great man.

Sending my condolences to Mrs. Lawhon and family especially to my friends Zim & Gretchen. As a UofS student during the confusing & conflicting Viet Nam war, it was comforting to have the campus presence of the " Colonel " whose image was far from conflicted and confused.I enjoyed seeing the FB photo of the "Colonel" on the Sunporch recently and am glad to have had a chance to read the narrative of his life. God bless the Lawhon family.
