Zona Marie Benner

Zona Marie Benner, 93, of Sewell, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023. She was born on December 3, 1929, in Newark, Ohio, to the late George and Mae Irene Braid. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by her family.

Known as "Marie" to most, she was a generous and caring woman who cherished spending time with her loved ones. She had a passion for everything Disney and also enjoyed going to the casinos, movies, dining out, and having cocktails. She especially loved sitting around conversing with friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Marvel (James), and her grandchildren, Colleen Boyce (Michael), Kelly Buckton (Thomas), Katherine Keenan (Sean), Francis Rafferty III, Justin Benner (Deanna), and Michelle Long (James). Marie also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

Marie was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and Rick, her husband, Richard Benner, her grandson, Christopher Benner, her brother, George Braid, and her sister, Dorothy Tate.

A private celebration of life will be held to honor Marie's memory. The Neptune Cremation Society in NJ is assisting the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marie's name to The Red Cross or the American Cancer Society. These organizations were close to her heart, and any support would be greatly appreciated.

Marie's love for life will forever be cherished by those who knew her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
